Software Development Engineer, Prime Video & Studios

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $129,300/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Prime Video’s Android Player team is looking for a talented engineer to help deploy AI/DL inference architectures and algorithms to improve customer quality of experience.

The Android Player team designs, implements and maintains high-performance software that powers video playback on millions of Android and Amazon Fire/Echo devices. We are responsible for the playback experience, quality, and performance from the time a customer presses play on a Prime Video title. Our software is designed to work seamlessly across a variety of devices/playing conditions and in a multitude of content consumption contexts, including live streaming, on-demand and ad-supported playback.

Key job responsibilities
You will be contributing to our teams' technical strategy, designing and developing reusable, object-oriented and performant software utilizing well-known patterns (MVC, Composite, Delegate, Protocol…) that may span multiple platforms, form factors, and resource challenges.

You will be exposed to the best experiences in mobile and multimedia software development as well as video streaming technologies such as audio/video codecs (AVC, HEVC, AAC, AC-3), DRM (Widevine, FairPlay, PlayReady), media frameworks (gstreamer, openMAX, iOS AV), streaming technologies (DASH, HLS, SmoothStreaming) and media container formats.
You will be contributing to our team’s technical strategy, integrating (or) designing and developing performant implementations of Edge AI/DL inference algorithms for video on appropriate inference-suitable processing elements (e.g. GPU, NPU) that may span multiple platforms, form factors, and resource challenges to achieve high quality, high frame-rate playback without any frame drops.
