Software Development Engineer

- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location. To accomplish this, you will be expected to have an established background in technology, excellent project delivery skills, good communication skills, and a motivation to achieve results in a fast paced environment. You should be somebody who enjoys working on complex system/software, is customer-centric, and feels strongly about building good software as well as making that software achieve its operational goals. Experience with building and operating backend applications, especially at massive scale, will be very applicable and helpful.

Key job responsibilities
* Work closely with senior engineers, product managers and business stakeholders to design and implement highly available web services
* Work with research science to develop and model new planning related algorithms
* Lead a small team of engineers and lead execution of projects while ensuring that engineering best practices are followed
* Assist directly and indirectly in the continual hiring and mentoring of other SDEs
