Description
- 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience programming with at least one software programming language
- 2+ years of building production software experience
- 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 3+ years of building complex software systems experience
- 2+ years of full stack development experience

NASC tech team is hiring a Software Development Engineer (SDE II) who will be at the centre of the development of state-of-the-art product suites and make a long-lasting footprint on our organization's path towards Hands Off the Wheel automated optimization.

They will work on some of the most complex challenges in large-scale computing by utilizing their skills in data structures, algorithms, and object-oriented programming. As SDE II, you will develop a deep understanding of our business, work closely with other developers and greatly contribute to the architecture, development and operations of software components and services. You will work on our hard problems, building high quality, architecturally sound systems that are aligned with our business needs. They think globally when building systems, ensuring Amazon builds high performing, scalable systems that work well together. They are pragmatic visionaries who can translate business needs into workable technology solutions.

Our newly developed software systems will include services that make business decisions in NACF Operations that impact billions of dollars per year, integrate with upstream and downstream systems across the supply chain network, manage business rules to enable strategic planning for network-level operational capacity, and improve experience for millions of online shoppers. We have an opportunity to build software that scales the business, leads the industry through innovation and delights millions of customers worldwide. We will leverage cutting edge technologies in big data, optimization techniques, machine learning, real time analytics and high volume, low latency, high availability services.

Key job responsibilities
• Responsible for the architecture, design, development and launch of some of the core product features.
• Significant influence on our overall strategy by helping define these product features, drive the system architecture, and spearhead the best practices that enable a quality product.
• Drive engineering best practices (e.g., Operational Excellence, Security, Quality, etc.) and set standards.
• Contribute to the professional development of colleagues, improving their technical knowledge and engineering practices.
• Create a culture of pride in engineering and operational excellence and drive best practices within teams and across organization.
• Exhibit depth of knowledge and familiarity with technologies to identify and deliver innovative technical solutions that meet business needs and scale with growth.
• Anticipate bottlenecks, provide escalation management, anticipate and make trade-offs, and balance the business needs versus technical constraints.

About the team
NASC org focuses on scalable and automated optimization of labour and capacity planning for our fulfilment centers through direct partnership with business stakeholders and tech partners. Advocating on behalf of NACF Operations, we are the business owners of various product suites that optimize fulfilment center planning and execution. We build and manage automated and scalable solutions that are intuitive, easy to use, and effective. We are accountable to deciding ‘what to build next’ and surfacing effectiveness of its developed solutions through sophisticated measurement techniques. The team is also responsible for the validation, pilot, deployment, and Keeping-The-Lights-On (KTLO) for any products that we develop for the business.
