Key job responsibilities
As a Senior Product Manager-Technical on the Tax Engine Business Testing Products team, you'll spearhead the development and enhancement of critical testing tools and frameworks for Amazon's global tax calculation systems. Your primary focus will be on ensuring the quality, reliability, and accuracy of these mission-critical regression testing components through advanced methodologies.
You'll lead initiatives to modernize and expand regression testing capabilities, including:

* Updating regression suites to leverage cutting-edge technical infrastructure
* Improving auditability, data sharing, and security of testing processes
* Creating scalable processes to efficiently backfill and maintain a growing library of automated test cases
* Defining and refining regression test coverage metrics and dashboarding

A key responsibility will be addressing testing challenges faced by the Tax Engine organization. This includes:

* Developing new intake processes and prioritization frameworks for testing tool enhancements
* Collaborating closely with engineering teams to implement high-impact testing features
* Establishing regular touch points with engineering to provide guidance on test implementation

You'll also drive overall testing process improvements, such as:

* Enhancing bug and issue management workflows specific to testing
* Serving as the primary point of contact for resolving test-related issues
* Ensuring TEA and TEB teams have visibility into testing metrics for informed decision-making

Your role will require extensive partnership with stakeholders in Product(TEB), Engineering(TEA), and Operations(TEB) to understand their testing needs and pain points. By delivering robust testing solutions, your work will directly impact the reliability of tax calculation systems, builder productivity, and Amazon's ability to innovate at scale while maintaining strict accuracy and compliance standards for Tax.

A day in the life
* Meeting with tax, business, and software teams to understand their needs and identify the associated indirect tax calculation and collection implications. Identifying the required technical, process and operational changes to support those needs. Developing product functional and user experience requirements, feature specifications, and standard operating procedures.
* Actively participating in projects throughout their lifecycle to ensure that the requirements are met – to include making tax rules configurations, specifying and reviewing test cases, troubleshooting issues, and ensuring alignment across teams.
* Understanding your customers (consumers, sellers, taxing authorities, and Amazon internal teams) to ensure that our product development consistently meets the objectives and experience expectations of our customers. Developing long term product strategies and associated product roadmaps – seeking consensus to prioritize those strategies, documenting trade-offs, and removing obstacles as necessary.
* Providing general indirect tax calculation and collection super subject matter expertise to internal and external teams – including legal, customer service, public policy, media relations, business development, tax software vendors and service providers, taxing authorities and other governmental entities, and industry and tax groups.
* Engaging deeply on technical decisions with engineering teams (internal and/or external). Expected to define both functional and non-functional technical requirements, using your technical expertise to contribute to development discussions that center on how a product solution is designed or expected to be constructed, and correctly identifying when appropriate push back is necessary.
* Presenting and discussing technologies that have/haven’t launched (accurately), communicate to engineers why a particular technology feature is useful/has value, explaining an API (in detail), discussing how to handle the architectural differences between two technology offerings, and driving the right technology design outcomes.
