MySQL Database Engineer II, RDS/Aurora MySQL Database Engineering team

- Deep knowledge and experience designing and running MySQL relational databases including knowledge of relational database internals (locking, consistency, serialization, recovery paths)
- Systems engineering experience, including Linux performance, memory management, I/O tuning, configuration, security, networking, clusters and troubleshooting.
- Experience working directly with customers, resolving database, systems and infrastructure-related issues and also providing systems architecture leadership
- Experience engineering, administering and managing multiple relational database flavors (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, SQLServer, PostgreSQL)
- Familiarity with Amazon Web Services (EC2, EBS, S3, etc.)
- Experience building and maintaining complex mission-critical production database systems
- Experience analyzing issues holistically, from the application tier through the database, down to the infrastructure
- Working knowledge of at least one scripting language (shell, Python, Perl).
- Coding skills in the procedural language for at least one database engine a must (PL/SQL, T-SQL etc.)
- Excellent communication skills.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $96,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $194,200/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
