Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $139,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $240,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. The Global Talent Management and Compensation's (GTMC) Integrated Talent Development Systems (ITDS) org is is seeking an experienced self directed, analytical and strategic Data Engineer that will drive projects , build data solutions, develop our long-term analytics architectural plan and improve the efficiency of our analytical and ML infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to think big, insist on the highest standards, and invent and simplify the data architecture to scale.
Do you have deep expertise in the end to end development of large datasets across a variety of platforms? Are you great at designing data systems and redefining best practices with a cloud-based approach to scalability and automation? In this role, you will be responsible for scaling our existing infrastructure, incorporating new data sources, and building robust data pipelines for production level systems. In partnership with product, engineering and business teams, you will work backwards from our business questions to drive scalable solutions. You will be a technical leader owning the architecture of our data platform and influence best practices across multiple teams. Above all, you should be passionate about mentoring and developing junior engineers and working with data to answer business questions and drive growth.
Key job responsibilities
- Design, implement, and maintain a cutting-edge cloud-based data-infrastructure for large data-sets.
- Develop and optimize data tables using best practices for partitioning, compression, compaction, etc.
- Develop and support ETL pipelines with robust monitoring and alarming
- Maintain data integrity, availability, and auditability. Manage AWS resources. Drive the adoption of new technologies (e.g Gen AI) and new best practices

Our team (TIDES) mission is to provide end-to-end analytics (Business Intelligence + Data Engineering) services and capabilities for the GTMC domain teams we support (e.g ITDS, Organizational Planning and Effectiveness). We strive to be a force-multiplier for our stakeholder teams by providing analytics thought-leadership and creating self-service tools to reduce manual efforts and remove us as a bottleneck in business teams ability to quickly make data-driven decisions. We see ourselves as an active (versus passive) partner that proactively looks around corners, and influences and informs org initiatives by listening to what the business wants but consistently delivering what it needs to better serve its customers. We work symbiotically with product and engineering teams to consistently unlock analytics just-in-time, and are the connective tissue for the business teams we support and their cross-org partners to help drive the success of their cross-org initiatives.
