Job Summary:

Database Reliability Engineer is responsible to help maintain and support database environments for our custom applications. Acting as key member of the Data Operations Team, this individual will be responsible for the successful operations and support of database environments in AWS. As well as overseeing database policies and procedures to ensure the performance, integrity and availability of databases and their accompanying software.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage/maintain/monitor database systems, perform routine audits of DBMS systems performance tune DBMS systems, manage DBMS security all in AWS

• Maintain and report system performance statistics

• Support automation scripting concepts for AWS (CLI, Terraform, Ansible).

• Safeguarding information in databases against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure

• Manage/maintain/monitor backup and recovery strategies in AWS (AWS Backup, S3 and AWS Backup Vaults)

• Support DBMS system for highly availability applications as well as Development Teams, Client Support and other organization throughout

• Ensure routine maintenance operations are performed on critical DBMS systems

Key Qualifications: 

• Extensive experience with AWS database solutions Strong grasp of query languages

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills including robust troubleshooting skills with a focus on preventative action

• Proven expertise managing complex data systems

• Experience with supporting highly transaction OLTP databases

• Experience with some of the following technologies and concepts is not required but would be a plus: Linux Operating Systems, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, MySQL, MS SQL Server, DB2 Microsoft Operating systems, AWS CLI, AWS Backup, Active Directory, OLTP, DSS, OLAP, Data Archiving, Wait Statistics, Solarwinds DPA, Linux Shell scripting, Agile Methodologies, Cloud Automation

• 5+ years of experience required
