Role Overview:
As a Quantitative Investing Intern on the Investment Solutions teams at Altruist, you will gain hands-on experience in developing investment strategies that are deeply coupled with their technical implementation. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, design, operations, and compliance, to develop and bring new investment capabilities to life. This is an exciting opportunity to help shape the future of the financial services industry while working in a fast-paced, mission-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform research on financial data using optimization software and statistical packages.
- Analyze and develop investment strategies that can be personalized at scale to deliver value through risk exposures, tax management, and implementation edge.
- Collaborate with the engineering and design teams to ensure successful product development, testing, and deployment.
- Support product launch activities, including user documentation, training materials, and client communication.
- Analyze data and user behavior to assess the impact of new product features and identify areas for further optimization.
- Provide support in user acceptance testing (UAT) and help ensure product quality and reliability.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Strong expertise writing to code for data manipulation, data visualization, statistical analysis, and optimization, ideally in Python
- Experience querying databases using SQL
- Basic understanding of fundamental financial concepts, including portfolio analysis and construction
- Demonstrated ability to solve novel problems with flexible thinking

- Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with a keen ability to work in cross-functional teams.
- Eagerness to learn, take initiative, and contribute to innovative solutions in the fintech space.
- Strong attention to detail, with a focus on user experience and product quality.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Familiarity with financial planning and tax management is a plus

Total compensation includes a competitive benefits package along with equity in the form of Stock Options (ISOs). A salary offer will be determined by a number of factors including experience, skill level, internal pay equity, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs regularly to ensure fair, equitable, and competitive pay. Base salaries will be reviewed at regular intervals throughout the year, typically in conjunction with performance review cycles.
