Job Description
As a Thermal Engineer – CFD, you will join the team in Luton to support our activities within the aerospace sector.
You will support the development and optimisation of cooling system designs for aircraft electrical power generators and electrical motors. Using advanced thermo-fluid modelling and simulation tools, you will analyse thermal performance and contribute to the design and selection of cooling components for both new and existing products.

Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct CFD and thermal modelling to predict the thermal performance of electrical machines and systems
- Support the design and optimisation of cooling systems for aircraft electrical generators and motors
- Perform thermo-fluid analysis using appropriate simulation tools to support engineering programmes
- Produce technical reports and analysis summaries to support design reviews and programme milestones
- Provide thermal analysis input for new product development, RFIs, and proposals
- Collaborate with design engineers and programme teams to support engineering decisions and product performance
- Support multiple projects while ensuring analysis and deliverables are completed within agreed timelines
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Strong understanding of thermodynamics and fluid dynamics principles
- Experience performing CFD and thermal analysis within engineering environments
- Competent in ANSYS simulation tools including Workbench and Fluent
- Ability to interpret engineering requirements and translate them into simulation models and analysis
- Experience producing technical documentation and presenting results to engineering teams
Required Qualifications:
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience.
- Experience using ANSYS tools such as Fluent, Workbench, SpaceClaim, or Discovery
Desirable Skills:
- Experience using Motor-CAD or similar electrical machine thermal modelling tools
- Experience performing thermo-fluid simulation for rotating electrical machines
- Experience within aerospace or electrical propulsion systems
- Ability to perform first principle calculations or 1D thermal modelling to validate simulation results
