Job Description

As an Electrical/Electronics Verification Specialist, you will join the Derby team to support our activities within the aerospace sector.

Working as a consultant with ALTEN, you will contribute to the development and certification of next-generation electric aircraft systems that are redefining sustainable aviation. This role sits at the intersection of systems engineering, safety analysis, and verification & validation, ensuring complex aircraft systems meet strict regulatory and certification standards. You will play a key role in supporting requirements definition, verification planning, and compliance demonstration across component, system, and aircraft-level testing within a highly regulated environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, manage, and validate aircraft-, system-, and component-level requirements, ensuring alignment with regulatory and certification standards.
  • Create and maintain verification plans, procedures, and test reports, supporting requirements-based verification across component, system, and aircraft levels.
  • Apply SAE ARP4754A and ARP4761 processes throughout the system lifecycle, ensuring traceability from requirements to compliance evidence.
  • Support safety assessments including Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), and FMEA.
  • Coordinate and execute laboratory, integration, and system-level testing, verifying systems such as environmental control systems, interiors, structural systems, lighting, and electric propulsion components.
  • Work closely with certification engineers, design engineers, suppliers, and test teams to ensure verification activities support overall aircraft certification schedules.
  • Manage requirements and verification traceability within ALM environments, ensuring bidirectional traceability between requirements, tests, and compliance documentation.

Qualifications

Required Skills

  • Strong experience in Verification & Validation (V&V) within aerospace or safety-critical engineering environments.
  • Deep knowledge of requirements management and traceability within ALM tools such as Polarion.
  • Working knowledge of SAE ARP4754A, SAE ARP4761, and certification-driven development processes.
  • Experience supporting FAA or EASA certification programmes including Part 23, 25, 27, or 29 aircraft.
  • Ability to develop requirements-based test strategies, verification procedures, and compliance documentation.
  • Strong experience collaborating with cross-functional engineering teams in safety-critical aerospace programmes.

Required Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline, or equivalent military experience.
  • 10+ years’ experience supporting aircraft systems verification, safety analysis, or certification programmes.
  • Proven experience working within certification-driven aerospace development environments.
  • Strong understanding of RTCA DO-160, DO-178C, DO-331, and related aerospace verification standards.

Desirable Skills

  • Experience supporting electric propulsion systems, hybrid-electric aircraft, or advanced air mobility platforms.
  • Familiarity with CATIA, SolidWorks, Onshape, or similar CAD modelling tools.
  • Experience with ANSYS, reliability analysis tools (Isograph, Relyence), or Windchill PLM environments.
  • Knowledge of Python or test automation frameworks to support automated verification workflows.
  • Exposure to Part 23 Amendment 64, ASTM F3338, or Part 33 propulsion certification programmes.
