About ALSO.

We’re ALSO, an electric mobility company originally conceived as a part of Rivian. We’re a passionate team of builders, dreamers, doers and innovators, focused on creating entirely new (not to mention, innovative and delightful) vertically integrated, small EVs designed to meet the global mobility challenges of today and tomorrow. Our mission is to inspire everyone to ride ALSO—replacing many local car, truck and SUV miles with ones on vehicles that are more affordable, more enjoyable and 10-50x more efficient.

ALSO is looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer, HW Design to develop electronics systems for multiple micro - mobility platforms.

What You Will Do

  • Join a cross-functional engineering team developing a next-generation light electric vehicle product line.

  • Collaborate with systems, hardware, software, controls, mechanical, and thermal engineers to deliver high-quality hardware solutions that meet design and performance requirements.

  • Design custom electrical hardware, including component selection, schematic capture, and PCB layout.

  • Contribute across the entire product development lifecycle, participating in both the design (left side) and validation (right side) phases of the V-model development process.

  • Perform troubleshooting, debugging, and failure analysis of vehicle electrical systems and subsystems.

  • Partner with suppliers and vendors on component sourcing, evaluation, and qualification.

  • Support the development and execution of component-level and vehicle-level test plans, including systems such as Lighting, Power Conversion, BMS etc..

  • Maintain and document requirements and validation status using requirements management tools.

  • Act as a technical liaison between the hardware team and cross-functional groups, helping drive collaboration and engineering efficiency across the organization.

What You Will Bring

  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering required; advanced degree preferred.

  • 5+ years of electrical engineering experience with a track record of technical accomplishments, curiosity, continuous learning, and strong system-level thinking.

  • Excellent collaboration, communication, and technical influencing skills.

  • Experience working in small to mid-sized engineering teams, with exposure to diverse technical challenges.

  • Strong experience with circuit simulation and modeling tools.

  • Proficiency in schematic capture and PCB layout.

  • Experience implementing common communication protocols in hardware, including CAN, USB, SPI, I²C, SENT, and LIN.

  • Solid understanding of analog and digital electronics, MCU platforms, sensors, control theory, and embedded systems.

  • Hands-on experience in an electrical engineering lab environment, using oscilloscopes, probes, multimeters, and power supplies.

  • Experience designing or working with switch-mode power supplies (SMPS) and understanding trade-offs between different topologies.

  • Experience collaborating with contract manufacturers (CMs) on manufacturing, sourcing, and validation activities.

  • Experience with power electronics systems (high current systems, >1kW power supplies, electronic loads, batteries) is a plus.

  • Demonstrated success bringing new products from concept through mass production launch is highly desirable.

The salary for this position ranges from $170,000 to $200,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
