Job Summary:

  • The Commercial Project Manager is a core member of our mid-level management team responsible for the preparation and submission of geophysical and geotechnical tenders, as well as overseeing the safe and efficient execution of awarded projects. The Commercial Project Manager will respond to business opportunities, develop the goals of the project, negotiate contracts, and monitor staff to ensure the project is completed on time, within budget, and is fully compliant with all applicable laws and regulations.

  • Act as first point of contact for inquiries into Alpine survey services.
  • Respond to incoming requests for work, information and potential projects.
  • Assess business opportunities by working with relevant internal teams.
  • Take action to understand and qualify client needs.
  • Bid on new projects and negotiate contracts.
  • Maintain regular communication with clients during the proposal phase.
  • Coordinate with internal SMEs to review contract scope and requirements.
  • Develop cost and technical proposals with input from the relevant internal departments.
  • Design and plan programs to collect survey data needed by the client.
  • Determine the necessary resources including time, people, equipment and budget.
  • Conduct risk assessments; report identified risks to management; provide recommendations for mitigation of risk.
  • Gather documentation and information needed to respond to RFPs.
  • Complete commercial proposal requirements including questionnaires and certificates of compliance requests.
  • Write proposals including technical writing.
  • Participate in contract reviews.
  • Ensure completeness of proposal requirements for submission.
  • Lead the preparation for field projects through the development of project documentation and organization of the required resources.
  • Coordinate with internal support (technical, reporting, vessel, logistics, HSE, legal), to ensure projects are set up safely and in line with contract requirements.
  • Lead the coordination of interdepartmental teams (technical, reporting, vessel, logistics, HSE, legal), to ensure project is completed on time, to specifications, in compliance, and with accuracy and efficiency. Liaise with clients before, during and after field operations. Assist in client outreach and development during marketing efforts.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, local, industry, contractual, and company regulations, standards, specifications, and best practices.
  • Work in conjunction with Alpine’s HSEQ Manager to ensure that HSEQ Protocols are followed at all times and that personnel and co-worker safety is top priority.
  • Analyze data and develop reports to assess project success and business opportunities.
  • Communicate and collaborate with sales and marketing teams to provide training and information required to promote and sell new projects, programs, and systems.
  • Manage client relationships and identify further business opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marine science, Environmental Science, Geology, Coastal Zone Management, or related field required.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant work experience in developing projects, budgets and pricing.
  • Minimum of 5 years project management experience
  • Previous work experience in the field in marine survey is required.
  • Working knowledge of hydrographic and geophysical data acquisition systems and software including Multibeam Sonars, Singlebeam Sonars, Side Scan Sonars, magnetometers, high resolution seismic and GNSS navigation systems.
  • Working knowledge of marine field operations related to sediment sampling, vibracoring, grab sampling, marine boring, cone penetrometer testing etc.
  • Area of expertise within one or multiple of the following areas: Nautical Charting, Renewable Energy, O&G infrastructure projects, marine shallow hazards surveys, submarine cable/pipeline routing, civil engineering and/or environmental assessment projects.
  • Experience working with the following software: QINSy, HYPACK, Edgetech Discover, SonarWiz, Caris, Qimera and Global Mapper is a plus.
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or GIS is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • If remote, travel to Alpine’s office is expected at least quarterly
