The Role

The Private Cloud team at AlphaSense is responsible for integrating our code base for our multi-tenant SaaS product into a single tenant customer managed private instance for customers running on AWS, Azure & GCP.

The team owns kubernetes operators used for installation/upgrades, shared libraries used to abstract cloud provide native services, reference architectures for various installation sizes and clouds, a series of services used to bridge between the customer instance and SaaS services, L4 escalations for private cloud customers, integration and release processes for the private cloud product and the overall quality of the private cloud product.

Your job as a seasoned software and cloud native engineering leader is to support our exceptionally talented private cloud engineering team in Helsinki. In this critical role, you will supervise a team of mainly staff+ cloud native, software and quality engineers, help engineers with career development, own critical integration/support processes, and contribute to technology strategy to progress AlphaSense as a top-tier engineering organization.

Within the Private Cloud Lane, your impact will be essential in scaling AlphaSense to a new level transforming it into a turn-key search solution for some of the biggest companies in the world.

Responsibilities:

• Champion the growth and development of the team, encouraging a continuous learning environment and supporting its members through coaching and mentoring, while ensuring long-term growth and psychological safety
• Constantly seek alignment and fluid collaboration with product managers, engineering leaders, and other key stakeholders
• Foster collaboration and effective communication within the team and across organizational boundaries 
• Exhibit strong personal commitment to quality and software engineering best practices
• Drive OKRs (Objectives and Key results) for the team for each quarter, while actively participating in the conversation defining mission and R&D quarter and yearly OKRs
• Introduce, advocate, implement, and maintain modern engineering practices and lean agile software development culture
• Introduce, advocate, implement, and maintain key operational processes
• Manage budget for infrastructure consumed by team
• Actively engage in hiring and retention strategies, including defining or updating role responsibilities and performance expectations
• Guide the team in strategic planning, ensuring effective use of resources and alignment with company-wide initiatives
• Facilitate a culture of innovation where team members contribute to both "what to build" and "how to build"
• Encourage a team culture that embraces AlphaSense’s Diversity Commitments and promotes organizational health
• Lead by example, establishing yourself as a trustworthy and empathetic leader with a commitment to personal and team growth

Requirements: 

• Leadership & Teams management skills with Servant Leader mentality
• Strong software engineering background (Golang, Java, Python, NodeJS or JavaScript preferably)
• Strong cloud native engineering background (AWS, Azure, GCP, CrossPlane, Kubernetes)
• Demonstrated ability to facilitate many technical teams contributing to a single product through influence and processes. 
• Demonstrated ability to lead and grow teams in a fast-paced environment
• Solid experience working in an agile development environment
• Strong passion for solving challenges, taking ownership and learning rapidly along the way
• Experience with operational processes and customer escalations
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to tailor messages to diverse audiences
• A track record of making informed decisions quickly, without compromising on quality or trust
• Strategic mindset with an ability to think ahead and anticipate problems before they escalate
• Commitment to fostering an inclusive and multi-culturally sensitive team environment where all voices are heard
