Allegion is looking for a highly motivated Lead Firmware Engineer capable of working collaboratively in a cross-functional team environment. The candidate will be expected to lead new product development and sustenance of Firmware designs for all product life cycle phases.  Additionally, the candidate will supervise, coach, and/or mentor Firmware engineering team members.  The candidate selected will need to be an organized self-starter, comfortable working in a fast-paced Embedded domain.

What You Will Do:

  • You will design, develop and debug new firmware for our electronic products and systems.
  • You should be able to design embedded modules meeting design attributes of a defined platform.
  • Maintain and improve existing designs and source code to help attain goal of having a modularity and robustness.
  • Lead and work with a team on designing, coding, testing and documentation for the product as per the defined processes.
  • Provide day to day technical guidance to the team members also develop them by providing right inputs and mentoring.
  • First point of contact within engineering with Internal and external customer.  Resolves Internal and external customer issues at advanced engineering level.  Lead customer presentations.
  • Frequently requested to give technical assessments of situations outside of their normal scope of influence.  Able to quickly generate numerous alternative solution paths, and objectively down-select to several technically promising alternatives based on sound reasoning.
  • Work with key stakeholders in defining the scope and milestones, follow ups on planning, tracking and making needed alignments for the program. 
  • Work with manufacturing & operations for firmware deliveries to support the production.
  • Work with cross functional teams located across the regions, also with external suppliers and vendors.
  • Provide constructive feedbacks to team members on a regular basis to improve their performance.
  • Track the projects and take the necessary preventive and corrective measures as per the needs of the program.
  • Take initiatives in improving the product quality, productivity, processes and tools used in the program.
  • Identify the purchase needs of the team and work with the manager to procure the required tools and devices.

What You Need to Succeed:

  • BE or M Tech in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation and all allied Engineering branches.
  • 8-10 Years embedded electronics experience in Firmware design and development.
  • Extensive experience working on firmware development and embedded systems
  • Very good C programming skills including understanding of assembly language is a plus
  • Experience in leading and mentoring teams
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be able to work with global stakeholders across regions
  • Good in project management skills like estimation, planning, execution and tracking.
  • Must have worked with various Software Development Life Cycles such as waterfall, V model, agile methodologies, etc.
  • Must have experience in working on various micro controllers and SoCs from different chip manufacturers.
  • Must have experience in integrating SDKs for various Wireless SoCs delivered from chip manufacturers.
  • Must have written low level device drivers for micro controllers and SoC - I2C, SPI, UART, ADC, PWM, etc.
  • Must be agile to work under a situation of changing requirements, ability to quickly adapt to new feature request from product management.
  • Good knowledge on any of the widely used embedded RTOS is required - like FreeRTOS, uCOS, VxWorks, etc.
  • Worked on products that involve optimal usage of on-board battery, understanding of battery life management.
  • Working experience in any of the wireless protocols - BLE, Wi-Fi, Thread, Zigbee, Z-Wave etc.
