Role overview
We are seeking a seasoned Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central Developer with 5-10 years of hands-on experience to develop, customize and extend Business Central solutions using AL. The role involves designing and developing Business Central objects, complex UI components, dashboards, reports, data exchange mechanisms and integrations with external systems.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for the complete development lifecycle, including requirements understanding, development, testing, debugging, deployment and technical documentation. You will work closely with functional teams, clients and cross-functional stakeholders to deliver scalable, reliable and performance-optimized Business Central solutions.
Key responsibilities:
1.Business Central Development
- Develop and customize Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central objects using AL.
- Design and develop tables, pages, codeunits, queries and reports.
- Create scalable and maintainable AL-based solutions based on business requirements.
- Debug and troubleshoot Business Central customizations and extensions.
- Ensure development follows Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central best practices.
2.UI, Matrix Pages & Dashboards
- Design and develop matrix pages, dashboards and complex UI components.
- Translate functional requirements into intuitive and efficient Business Central interfaces.
- Customize pages and user experiences based on business requirements.
- Optimize UI components for usability and performance.
3.Data Processing & Data Exchange
- Develop codeunits for processing Excel and CSV files.
- Implement data transformation and validation processes.
- Design and implement data exchange mechanisms using FTP, Azure Blob Storage and other external sources.
- Ensure accurate and reliable movement of data between Business Central and external systems.
- Troubleshoot data exchange and file-processing issues.
4.Reporting & Business Intelligence
- Develop and customize RDLC and Word-based reports within Business Central.
- Ensure reports integrate seamlessly with Business Central functionality.
- Support reporting requirements and data visualization needs.
- Collaborate with functional teams to translate reporting requirements into technical solutions.
- Exposure to Power BI is an advantage.
5.Integration & External Systems
- Build integrations between Business Central and third-party systems.
- Implement integrations using REST and SOAP APIs.
- Develop and support EDI-based integrations.
- Design reliable and secure integration flows.
- Troubleshoot integration issues and ensure seamless data synchronization.
6.Testing & Quality Assurance
- Write unit tests and perform debugging across Business Central solutions.
- Validate application functionality and integration scenarios.
- Identify and resolve defects and performance issues.
- Ensure high-quality, reliable and performance-optimized solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and follow development standards.
7.DevOps & Deployment
- Manage version control, branching and CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
- Coordinate deployments across development, testing and production environments.
- Support release management and deployment activities.
- Ensure deployment processes are consistent, controlled and reliable.
- Troubleshoot deployment and environment-related issues.
8.Documentation & Collaboration
- Document technical designs, integration flows and development approaches.
- Maintain technical documentation and knowledge-base artifacts.
- Collaborate closely with functional consultants, clients and cross-functional teams.
- Participate in requirements discussions and provide technical recommendations.
- Communicate technical concepts and solutions effectively to stakeholders.
Required technical skills and competencies:
- 5-10 years of hands-on experience developing with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Strong proficiency in AL development and Business Central object debugging.
- Strong experience developing tables, pages, codeunits, queries and reports.
- Hands-on experience with matrix pages, dashboards and complex UI components.
- Strong knowledge of data exchange and file processing.
- Experience with FTP and Azure Blob Storage.
- Experience developing RDLC and Word-based reports.
- Strong experience with REST/SOAP web services and EDI integrations.
- Familiarity with Azure DevOps, version control and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong debugging and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work effectively with clients and cross-functional teams.
