Role Overview
We are looking for a detail-oriented and enthusiastic Android QA Engineer to join our Quality Assurance team. The candidate will be responsible for validating Android applications across devices and operating system versions, executing functional and regression tests, identifying defects, and contributing to automation and continuous quality improvement.
The ideal candidate should have a strong foundation in software testing concepts, basic Android and Linux knowledge, and an eagerness to learn automation tools and modern Quality Engineering practices.
Key Responsibilities
1. Testing & Quality Assurance
- Understand business requirements and user workflows and convert them into test scenarios and test cases.
- Perform functional, regression, integration, and exploratory testing.
- Execute test cases and report defects with sufficient evidence and reproduction steps.
- Participate in release validation and quality certification activities.
- Apply test design techniques such as Equivalence Partitioning, Boundary Value Analysis, Decision Tables, and State Transition Testing.
2. Android Application & Device Testing
- Test Android applications on emulators and physical devices.
- Validate application behaviour across different screen sizes and Android OS versions.
- Capture screenshots, logs, videos, and test evidence.
- Perform installation, upgrade, and compatibility testing.
- Use Android Debug Bridge (ADB) for basic troubleshooting and diagnostics.
- Review Logcat outputs and assist in defect root cause analysis.
3. Automation Engineering
- Develop and maintain automated test scripts.
- Build reusable and data-driven automation test suites.
- Contribute to automation framework development using industry-standard tools.
- Execute automated test suites and analyse failures.
- Create utilities and helper scripts for test data preparation and validation.
4. CI/CD & Reporting
- Trigger and monitor automated test executions through CI/CD pipelines.
- Analyse execution results and prepare quality reports.
- Participate in release-readiness and quality-signoff activities.
- Generate concise test execution summaries and release recommendations.
5. Continuous Learning & Collaboration
- Learn modern Quality Engineering practices.
- Explore AI-assisted testing techniques and tools.
- Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and senior QA engineers.
- Participate in training programs, hackathons, and technical knowledge-sharing sessions.
Required Technical Skills & Competencies
Software Testing Fundamentals
- Good understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), Software Testing Life Cycle (STLC), and Software Defect Lifecycle.
- Understanding of functional and regression testing concepts.
- Familiarity with test case design techniques.
Android Fundamentals
- Basic understanding of Android applications and Android architecture.
- Familiarity with APK installation and testing.
- Understanding of Android emulators and mobile application testing concepts.
Linux Fundamentals
- Basic Linux command-line knowledge.
- Familiarity with file system navigation, log inspection, basic shell commands, and process monitoring.
Database Fundamentals
- Basic understanding of relational databases.
- Ability to write simple SQL queries using SELECT, JOIN, WHERE, and GROUP BY.
Version Control
- Basic knowledge of Git.
- Understanding of clone, commit, push, and pull request concepts.
