Principal AI Engineer (f/m/d)

Overview:

As a Principal AI Engineer at Aleph Alpha, you will play a critical role in designing, developing, and implementing advanced AI algorithms and models. You will lead technical initiatives, mentor engineering teams, and ensure the delivery of high-quality AI solutions that align with our strategic goals. The ideal candidate possesses deep expertise in AI technologies, strong problem-solving skills, and a passion for pushing the boundaries of AI innovation.

Your responsibilities:

• AI Model Development: Design and develop cutting-edge AI models and algorithms to address complex business challenges and enhance our product offerings. Experiment with various approaches to improve performance and reliability.

• Technical Leadership: Act as a technical authority on AI and machine learning technologies, guiding best practices in model development, testing, and deployment across the organization.

• Research & Innovation: Stay updated with the latest advancements in AI, machine learning, and deep learning. Conduct research to evaluate emerging technologies and their applicability to our product ecosystem.

• Cross-functional collaboration: Collaborate closely with product managers, software engineers, data scientists, and other stakeholders to define AI requirements and translate them into actionable technical specifications.

• Performance Optimization: Monitor and optimize model performance, ensuring models are scalable, efficient, and deployable in production environments. Address challenges related to data quality, training methodologies, and inference times.

• Mentorship & Development: Mentor and coach junior and mid-level AI engineers, providing guidance on technical challenges, career development, and best practices in AI.

• Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of AI methodologies, experiments, and results. Present findings and recommendations to stakeholders and contribute to project planning.

Your profile:

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, or a related field.

• 8+ years of hands-on experience in AI and machine learning, including expertise in neural networks, natural language processing, computer vision, or other relevant domains.

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or Java, with experience in machine learning frameworks like TensorFlow, PyTorch, or similar.

• Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and statistical methods as they apply to AI.

• Experience with cloud-based AI services and deployment (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) is highly desirable.

• Demonstrated ability to lead technical projects and work collaboratively in a team environment.

• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

• Passion for innovation and a strong desire to push the envelope in AI research and applications.
