Head of Engineering (f/m/d)

Overview:

As the Head of Engineering at Aleph Alpha, you will be responsible for leading our engineering team and overseeing the development and implementation of our AI-driven products and solutions. You will set the technical direction for the organization, ensure the highest standards of engineering practices, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration. The ideal candidate is an experienced engineering leader with a deep understanding of AI technologies, a strong strategic vision, and a passion for building high-performing teams.

Your responsibilities:

• Leadership & Vision: Establish the engineering vision, strategy, and roadmap aligned with the company’s objectives. Inspire and lead the engineering team towards operational excellence and innovation.

• Team Management: Recruit, mentor, and develop engineering talent to build a high-performance team. Foster a culture of inclusivity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

• Technical Direction: Oversee the architecture, design, and implementation of robust, scalable, and efficient software solutions. Ensure that engineering practices are in line with industry standards and best practices.

• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product management, data science, and other business units to ensure alignment on product development priorities and timelines, promoting effective communication between teams.

• Quality Assurance: Implement and uphold quality assurance processes to ensure the reliability and performance of AI products, overseeing rigorous testing and validation methodologies.

• Budget & Resource Management: Manage the engineering budget and resources effectively to ensure projects are delivered on time and within scope. Optimize processes and operational efficiencies.

• Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with senior leadership and stakeholders to align engineering initiatives with business goals, reporting on progress and key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Innovation & Research: Stay at the forefront of technological advancements in AI and engineering. Advocate for the adoption of new tools, frameworks, and technologies to enhance productivity and product quality.

Your profile:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical field (PhD preferred).

• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 5 years in a leadership role managing engineering teams.

• Proven experience in building and scaling engineering organizations, particularly in the AI, machine learning, or software development sectors.

• Strong technical background in software architecture, development methodologies, and AI technologies.

• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire diverse teams.

• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize effectively, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.

• Experience with Agile methodologies and modern software development practices.

• Passion for technology and a commitment to fostering a culture of innovation and continuous learning.
