Commercial Data Analyst – Americas Commercial Operations

As a Commercial Data Analyst supporting the Americas Commercial Operations team, you will be responsible for building, maintaining, and enhancing dashboards and reports that enable data‑driven decision‑making across the commercial organization. In this role, you will analyze data, investigate issues, and translate findings into clear, business‑ready visualizations and insights.

You will work closely with cross‑functional stakeholders to understand reporting needs, ensure data accuracy, and support a highly collaborative, team‑oriented environment. This role is well‑suited for an analyst with strong attention to detail, solid technical foundations, and the ability to work independently within defined processes while communicating proactively with stakeholders.
 

In this role, a typical day will include:

  • Collaborating with Commercial Operations, Sales Operations, Marketing, Finance, and other partners to understand reporting and analytics needs.
  • Pulling, validating, and analyzing data to build dashboards, reports, and ad‑hoc analyses that support operational and management reviews.
  • Investigating data issues, variances, or inconsistencies and proactively working to resolve them.
  • Translating data findings into clear visual stories tailored to technical and non‑technical audiences.
  • Maintaining documentation, definitions, and reporting logic in alignment with governance and SOP requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, maintain, and enhance dashboards and recurring reports using Tableau or Power BI to support commercial decision‑making.
  • Perform data analysis to identify trends, issues, and opportunities within commercial and customer data.
  • Partner with stakeholders to clarify requirements, define metrics, and ensure reporting outputs meet business needs.
  • Ensure data accuracy and integrity through validation, investigation, and documentation of data sources and logic.
  • Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline or automate reporting processes.
     

What You’ll Bring to Alcon
 

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Data Analytics, Engineering, Mathematics, Economics, Information Systems) or equivalent practical experience.

Experience

  • 2–4 years of hands‑on experience in data analytics, BI reporting, or dashboard development within a corporate or enterprise environment.
     

Technical Skills

  • Working knowledge of SQL for querying and data analysis.
  • Experience with Tableau or Power BI for dashboarding and data visualization.
  • Exposure to tools such as Alteryx and/or Python is a plus.
  • Strong data visualization and data storytelling skills.
     

Behavioral & Soft Skills

  • Strong attention to detail, accountability, and ownership of deliverables.
  • Ability to investigate issues independently and follow through to resolution.
  • Clear and proactive communication skills; able to tailor messages to different audiences.
  • Collaborative, team‑oriented mindset with openness to support others as needed.
  • Learning agility and willingness to continuously improve skills and processes.
