We foster an inclusive culture and are looking for diverse, talented people to join Alcon. As a Sr.Software Engineer supporting the Visualization Software Team in Goleta, a typical day will include:

• Develop cutting-edge, reliable, application software, using C#/WPF used in medical device systems, based on requirements and specifications

• Design and implement software for Windows based applications

• Create accurate and consistent software documentation to enable testing and ensure quality

• Conduct thorough software testing and debugging to ensure that systems meet the highest standards

• Collaborate with hardware and verification engineers to ensure that software meets usability and performance requirements

• Participate in code reviews and contribute to the continuous improvement of our software development process

• Keep up to date with the latest industry trends and technologies and share your knowledge with the team

WHAT YOU’LL BRING TO ALCON:

• High School Diploma or equivalent 

• The ability to fluently read, write, understand, and communicate in English 

• 5 Years of Relevant Experience 

• Work hours:40 hours

• Travel:5%

Preferred Experience:

• 2-4+ years of hands-on C# WPF or C++ Windows desktop application software development experience

• Experience with multi-threaded applications

• Experience working with legacy code and integrating 3rd party technologies

• Experience in using static analysis, unit testing, and other tools/methods to produce high quality software

• Experience using source control (Git) for development, feature branching and testing

• Solid understanding of data structures and design patterns to develop high-performance, low latency, applications

• Working in an Agile/ Continuous Integration (CI) environment, using Jira, Azure DevOps

• Experience in developing software in a regulated environment

• Experience in software risk management and writing software requirements

• Experience with Python for general-purpose scripting
