Senior Data Engineer

Aklamio is looking for a Senior Data Engineer who will strengthen our Data team and contribute heavily towards building and improving our Data Systems. The Engineer is an expert in Python and SQL with a focus on Data, who has proven their problem-solving capabilities and is happy to take ownership in an agile environment.

What you’ll do

• Join our Data team and take ownership of our data pipelines. You make sure that data from numerous source systems is reliably available, correct, and on time. 
• Take care of our data engineering platform and constantly improve the tooling available to the data team in order to improve the team's speed and output quality.
• Take the lead on initiatives and be directly responsible for customer and business value. Do so by closely collaborating within your team and with different experts across the company.
• Care deeply about the technical health of the system owned by your team and always drive to improve it.
• As a Senior Engineer in the team, you make use of your experience and guide your teammates to better outcomes when you see the opportunity. 

What we are looking for

• At least 5 years of Data Engineering Experience in Python / SQL.
• Technical excellence: In-depth knowledge of various data-related tools and frameworks, including Airflow, Snowflake, Docker, Gitlab CI, Kafka, AWS, GoodData, or alternatives and experience in building data pipelines with it.
• Optional, but nice to have: Monitoring and reporting toolings like Prometheus, Sentry, Logstash, Machine Learning / Forecasting Experience, Dashboards and Visualisations.
• Data Operations: You understand and apply the best practices around building modern data pipelines and keeping them well-oiled and running. This includes Data Quality, Cleaning, Data Lineage, Governance, and other topics.
• Performance: You know how to find and solve performance bottlenecks related to data processing in both Python and columnar data warehouses.
• Problem Solver: You know how to keep calm under pressure, and develop pragmatic solutions fast and in collaboration with others.
• Product-minded Engineer: You are interested in driving initiatives from beginning to end, caring deeply about the value you are going to create.
• Excellent Communication: You are able to discuss technical problems and solution options with your team and various experts, synchronize with stakeholders, find the right words in challenging situations, and give/take critical feedback.
• Experience in Agile Development: working as part of agile development teams that frequently release with confidence. 
• Best Practices: You know how to test, deploy, use version control, linting, logging, and other related practices.
