The team oversees authentication services for Akamai Control Center and Linode's Cloud Manager. Access is secured using protocols like OAuth and SAML, integrated with various security tools. Engineers are needed to enhance and expand these essential platforms.

Work involves developing and integrating platform components used by customers and engineering teams. Contributions directly impact the security of Akamai Control Center and Cloud Manager, two critical systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to enhance system functionality and security across platforms.

As a Software Engineer II, you will be responsible for:

• Developing and maintaining backend services and full-stack web applications using Python, with potential inclusion of JavaScript, TypeScript, and Java.
• Implementing security best practices (OWASP Top 10) while ensuring expertise in core internet protocols like TCP/IP, HTTP, DNS, TLS/SSL.
• Engaging in every phase of the project lifecycle, from system design to deployment and post-release issue resolution.
• Leveraging modern AI-assisted development tools to boost productivity and efficiency
• Applying principles of system design to create scalable solutions, overseeing deployments, containerization(Docker), proxy management, certificate handling, and ensuring reliability.

To be successful in this role you will:

• Demonstrate expertise in computer science fundamentals, such as data structures, algorithms, and system design, through accredited education or equivalent practical experience.
• Develop practical backend solutions in Python using frameworks such as Flask or FastAPI, while creating RESTful APIs for production environments.
• Demonstrate expertise in SQL, Docker, Git, shell scripting, and managing services in active production environments effectively.
• Apply practical knowledge of internet technologies, core web protocols, web security concepts, and OWASP Top 10 practices effectively and comprehensively.
• Embrace learning and utilizing emerging technologies while maintaining openness to modern AI-assisted development tools for innovative solutions.
• Nice to have:Full-stack / frontend experience (JavaScript, TypeScript, Angular), exposure to Java/Spring or NoSQL, or background in auth systems (OAuth 2.0, SAML).
