Performance Engineer II
Location: Poland; Remote

Join our world-class Mapping Strategy team
On the Mapping Strategy team, we engineer global traffic flows and allocate capacity across products and regions. We optimize efficiency, resilience, and performance. We define and evolve KPIs, SLIs, and SLOs, advance measurement and dashboards, develop alerting and automation, and lead complex production investigations.

Our mission incudes overseeing the mapping system, ensuring availability, reliability, and performance, enhancing observability, and managing safe change processes.
As a Performance Engineer II, you will be responsible for:
- Improving Akamai's content delivery products through cross-functional collaboration, data-driven decisions, and focus on performance, availability, reliability, and efficiency.
- Responding to escalations for capacity impact evaluation.
- Designing strategies for allocating Akamai's global capacity across products to balance efficiency, resilience, and customer experience.
- Engineering global traffic policies to continuously improve latency, availability, and resource utilization.
- Automating operational tasks and build frameworks that eliminate toil and reduce manual and repetitive work.
- Collaborating with engineering and SRE teams to build scalable, resilient systems and troubleshoot complex performance issues across services, networks, and regions.
- Implementing and optimize monitoring, alerting, logging, and analytics to proactively detect, mitigate, and prevent issues.
Do what you love
To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a Bachelor's Computer Science, Data Science, or a related engineering field.
- Have an experience with Python, Go, Bash, or similar scripting languages.
- Demonstrate Linux CLI/shell fluency, deep
Linux/Unix internals knowledge; expertise with the network protocol stack, distributed systems, and systems design - Demonstrate an experience in developing SQL queries for trend analysis, troubleshooting, and reporting.
- Have an experience in Site Reliability Engineering, DevOps, or a related role.
- Be fluent in monitoring, alerting, and logging platforms (e.g., Grafana, Prometheus)
Experience with Lisp and Linear Programming would be a plus
