The Spend Foundations team is a newly created group focused on building advanced, predictive analytics solutions for our Spend products. This team will empower our customers with tools to forecast expenses, manage bill payments, and leverage AI for forward-looking financial predictions. This function will play a vital role in building a predictive-based product suite that sets a new standard in financial management solutions.

What you’ll do

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Engineering Manager to lead our newly created Spend Foundations engineering function.

In this role, you will lead and build the newly formed Spend Foundations engineering function, driving the development of advanced AI analytics for our Spend products. With deep technical expertise, you’ll guide the team to deliver high-quality, predictive capabilities while fostering cross-regional and cross-departmental collaboration.

This role will require a relocation to Singapore.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor a high-performing engineering team to deliver innovative, AI-driven solutions.

• Define and drive the technical roadmap, building scalable and customer-centric products.

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to prioritise and integrate features seamlessly.

• Ensure the team delivers high-quality, secure, and performant solutions with a strong focus on user experience.

• Own the technical architecture, ensuring systems scale efficiently and handle increasing data volumes.

• Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning within the team.

• Communicate technical concepts clearly to executives and stakeholders, providing regular updates on progress and risks.

• Drive the adoption of best practices in software engineering, including agile development, continuous integration, and automated testing.

Who you are

We're looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role. The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.

Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline.

• 8+ years of software engineering experience.

• 3+ years of experience leading and mentoring a team of engineers.

• Strong organisational/time management skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities while working with multiple opportunities and customers.

• Strong problem-solving mindset, comfortable working with customers, partners, and the Airwallex Engineering team to develop new products and solutions.

• Executive engagement skills and presence, with an ability to establish strong relationships with key decision-makers and build credibility at all levels.

• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.

Preferred qualifications:

• Experience with backend technologies such as Java, Kotlin, Spring / Spring Boot

• Familiarity with fintech and global payment systems.
