For Airbus Defence & Space in Taufkirchen we are looking for a 
Satellite Control Center Systems Engineer HW/SW (d/f/m).

The department is developing satellite communication systems for civil and military customers. As a Satellite Control Center (SCC) Systems Engineer HW/SW (d/f/m), you will work on the concept, design, development and technical procurement of Satellite Control Centers, their extensions and modifications for MILSATCOM as well as commercial applications. You are also responsible for the maintenance of the satellite control centers during the routine phase of the programmes. In the frame of the procurement activities, you will follow the development and acceptance phase from the Request for Proposal (RFP) up to the final acceptance of the satellite control centers. After acceptance, you will accompany the implementation of the satellite control centers into the Ground Segments until they go live in operations. During the operational phase, you are the technical point-of-contact for any anomalies that might occur and support the technical resolution of the issues.

Your tasks and responsibilities 

  • Requirements engineering with DOORS in the area of the satellite control center and lower levels

  • Conduct and follow-up conceptual design activities in the area of satellite conrol center systems engineering, including but not limited to requirement, interface, user data and management data flow within the ground segment as well as TM/TC interfaces

  • Establishment of requirement for satellite control center hardware (HW) and software (SW) items and their interfaces to other ground segment entities, e.g. ground stations, payload control center, networks incl. IT infrastructure as well as data centers 

  • Elaboration of system trade-offs in the area of satellite control center systems engineering and support the overall architecture definition

  • Elaboration of verification and validation concept at satellite control center level and support of relevant tests at higher level (e.g. SVTs, GSVTs)

  • Elaboration of the operations concept as well as preparation of operational requirements and operational products (Flight & Ground Operations Procedures, i.e. FOPs & GOPs) for the satellite control center

Desired skills and qualifications 

  • Master’s degree in Telecommunications, Electronics or other related Engineering disciplines 

  • Profound experience in Spacecraft Control Center and Payload Control Center systems engineering

  • Profound knowledge of satellite control center systems engineering wrt. technical interface, data flow (for user and management data) as well as TM/TC engineering (secure and unsecured)

  • Strong experience in software based systems, networks and IT infrastructure

  • Experience in design, development, integration, verification, operations  of satellite centrol centers and associated processes and operational procedures

  • Knowledge of communication engineering including RF link budgets and antenna designs would be beneficial

  • Business fluency in English and German.
