Description of the job

Airline Sciences – Live Services (DMAL) is an innovative Airbus initiative focused on delivering an

advanced real-time aviation data platform and BI solutions to aviation stakeholders.

The Airline Sciences team objective is to act as an advisor to bring airline operational representativity in

all Airbus activities. By combining aircraft models, trajectory simulations and optimization, operational

research, data analytics and artificial intelligence, the Airline Sciences team is able to deliver realistic

aircraft performance, airline network and maintenance schedules, evaluation of a virtual Airline and

Operational Insights that contribute to a more efficient operation of an airline.

At this moment, a vacancy for a Cloud Engineer has arisen within Airbus, and you can also be part of

this diverse team of passionate individuals! 

The Airline Sciences teams are composed of Flight Physics

Engineers, Data Scientists, Airline Scientists, Data analysts, Software developers, system architects,

Products Managers and business analysts from all around the world.

Tasks & accountabilities

The main activities of the Cloud Engineer are the following:

• Implement data asset management, rationalized data structures and BI solutions which fit DMAL customer needs

• Implement real-time data traceability mechanisms to enable transparency across DMAL cloud infrastructures

• Proactively contribute to the expansion and continuous improvement of DMAL services and products

This role will involve some travel for business in Europe and as such you must be able to travel accordingly.

Required skills

We are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

The skills you bring

• Engineering Bachelor / Master degree or equivalent

• 5-7 years of relevant work experience in similar scope to the responsibilities mentioned above

• Good knowledge of Big Data challenges and tools like Apache Kafka and Apache Spark

• Experience with Apache Flink and cloud architectures using it for real-time data processing and delivery (integration with Postgre SQL, Reddis, job management and deployment, etc.)

• Experience working with Databricks and setting up E2E ETL processes in the platform

• Proven Experience delivering end-to-end real-time data services under SLA in MS Azure Cloud, including data qualification, operational monitoring and disruption scenario management

• DevOps mindset: Microservices Architecture, Kubernetes, Docker, CI/CD with Azure DevOps, Terraform, API Gateway, IaaS, PaaS, RESTful API

Preference will be given to candidates with

• This position requires proficiency in English

• Experience in data asset management, rationalized data structures and BI solutions

• Ability to work closely and effectively with people at all levels in the company including Design Office, Maintenance Services, Flight Operations, Strategy & Finance, Supply Chain, Marketing, Airworthiness Authorities, Air Navigation Service Providers, Suppliers, external customers and local University research associates

• Other cloud technology knowledge is a plus

The role will have the following key outputs:

• Strong link with the Airbus Information Management organization

• Good quality code and participation in improvement of existing code

• Proactive in providing guidance & inputs for the product’s roadmap
