Aerovel, a trailblazer in the unmanned aircraft industry, is seeking an Engineering Project Manager to lead multiple concurrent multi-functional engineering projects, of both internal and external project teams, developing, manufacturing, and sustaining VTOL UAS technologies and products. Develop and continually improve the engineering project management function, its processes and tools.

The Airbus Helicopters Flexrotor Program offers one of the most sophisticated small tactical unmanned aerial systems (STUAS) with vertical take-off and landing (VTOL). It can be used day or night by US and allied forces for a diverse range of intelligence, surveillance, target acquisition and reconnaissance (ISTAR) on land and at sea.

Your Challenges:
Create and maintain the master engineering project schedule and risks and issues register, comprising projects of all sizes and complexity, all phases from proposal and planning, through execution to completion.
Drive project team’s weekly goals setting and achievements, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of status with frequent efficient small meetings and minimized large group meeting time.
Ensures all engineering work and coordination are accounted for in the project activity, including approvals, BOM, drawing release, work-instruction development, configuration control, hardware lead-times, inspections, manufacturing trials, manufacturing tool-kits, parts kits, verification testing and reporting.
Identifies and manages risks and resolves dependencies, prioritizes, acquires disposition, ownership assignment, and activity to mitigate and resolve.
Forecasts, identifies, and removes obstacles from project teams’ path, such that project team may maintain focus on core work, with minimal delay.
Create work breakdown structure (WBS) from team member input and completes with missing fundamental steps to achieve project results.
Analysis and identifies high-level achievements, dependencies, critical path, free slack, resource utilization, risk and issues, and cost.
Create weekly status briefs and materials for project evaluations.
Maintain a list of backlog projects and efforts and ensure periodic review and disposition of priority.
Your Boarding Pass:
Bachelors of Science degree or greater in electrical engineering, aerospace engineering, or equivalent.
10 years of relevant experience in Engineering.
Five (5) years’ experience as a product development engineer, performing development engineering and leading hardware product through phases of the engineering development cycle, including design, drawing release, selection of supplier, sourcing and testing prototypes, resolving pre-production issues, and successful production launch.
Five (5) years’ Experience as project manager, leading multiple engineering projects, and project teams through all phases of the design and development cycle.
Experienced in producing coordinated project schedules and reports in MS Project, or like systems, identifying dependencies, critical path, free slack, resource utilization, cost, and risk and issues.
Physical Requirements:
Onsite: 100% - Daily except when on travel.
Vision: able to see and read computer screen and other electronic equipment with screens, able to read documents, reports and engineering drawings daily
Hearing: able to hear to participate in conversations in person and via teleconference or phone and to hear sounds including safety warnings or alarms daily
Speaking: able to speak in conversations and meetings, deliver information and participate in communications daily
Equipment Operation: able to operate most office and personal electronic equipment daily
Carrying: able to carry documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs daily
Lifting: able to lift documents, drawings, electronic equipment up to 10lbs daily
Pushing / Pulling: able to push and pull small office furniture occasionally
Sitting: able to sit for long periods of time in meetings, working on computer daily
Squatting / Kneeling: able to squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items stored on low shelving occasionally
Standing: able to stand for discussions in offices daily
Travel: able to travel independently and at short notice rarely
Walking: able to walk through office and production areas including uneven surfaces daily
Personal Protective Equipment required: Steel-toed shoes are required for all shop floor visits, appropriate hearing/eye protection may also be required when visiting the shop floor.
Ability to work in the US without current, or future, need for visa sponsorship/work authorization is required for this opportunity.
Summary pay range: $109,000 - $172,000 per year.
