Lead Developer
Team: Development
Location: Prague
Commitment: Full Time Employee
Workplace Type: hybrid
As a Lead Developer, you'll combine hands-on software engineering with technical leadership and people development.
You'll play a key role in designing, building and operating the backend services that connect payment terminals with acquirers and processors worldwide. Alongside your technical contributions, you'll help developers grow, guide technical decision-making, and ensure your team delivers reliable, secure and scalable solutions.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys staying close to the code while leading others through mentorship, coaching and collaboration.
What you'll be doing:
- Foster a collaborative engineering culture by actively listening to and incorporating feedback from senior team members and domain experts, particularly in the payments space.
- Lead the design, development and evolution of cloud-native backend services built with Java and Kotlin.
- Contribute hands-on to coding, architecture discussions and solution design.
- Own the full software development lifecycle, from design and implementation through to deployment and production support.
- Drive engineering excellence through code reviews, testing practices and continuous improvement.
- Ensure services remain scalable, resilient, secure and observable.
- Collaborate closely with Architects, Principal Developers and Product teams to shape technical direction and delivery priorities.
- Mentor and support software engineers in their technical and professional growth.
- Provide regular feedback, coaching and development guidance.
- Help developers prioritise work and focus on the highest-value initiatives.
- Contribute to performance and development conversations.
- Support hiring, onboarding and capability building within the team.
- Foster a collaborative culture built on ownership, accountability and continuous learning.
- Take ownership of the operational health of the services your team supports.
- Monitor performance, reliability and production behaviour.
- Lead incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
- Translate operational insights into meaningful improvements.
- Balance feature delivery with technical debt reduction and platform maturity initiatives.
- Partner with Product, QA, DevOps, Architecture and other engineering teams to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Facilitate technical discussions and decision-making.
- Identify risks, dependencies and trade-offs early.
- Champion improvements across engineering processes, tooling and ways of working.
