Job Description

In this Role you will deliver a wide range of graphic design projects, that include moderately complex tasks, from brief to completion. Under the general guidance and support of a senior designer/manager.

This work includes digital and print skills sets, for projects such as, but not limited to brochures and promotional collateral, editorial and technical reports. Visualisation of data through infographics. Selection of relevant and compelling brand photography and imagery. Social media assets and exhibition and event design alongside other required marketing collateral. May include audio / video media editing skills if appropriate.

Responsibilities & Duties

  • Under general supervision of a design manager or project lead, performs varied and moderately complex graphic design tasks. (Supervision criteria)
  • Demonstrate competent to advanced use of professional creative tools (Adobe CS) and maintain up to date skills and general industry knowledge of technical advancements. (Technical/Functional criteria)
  • Produce high quality graphic design, over a wide range of marketing and communication collateral, across varied target audiences. For example: digital and printed brochures, assets for social media, web, and other relevant platforms, event banners and stands, press advertisements, infographics, and brand identity development and iconography. These assets will be created using both existing formats and layout templates as well as creating bespoke designs. Video, sound and animation editing as appropriate. (Technical/Functional criteria)
  • Understand and work through a thorough creative process; interpreting the brief, performing research and basic trend analysis, creating original and relevant concepts, implementing feedback as part of a collaborative team, to finalise solutions and prepare for final release or production, within established timescales. (Technical/Functional criteria)
  • Provide feedback and contribute to new ideas, processes, adapt to changes in procedure or best practice. (Innovation/Change criteria)
  • Perform good time management when working on multiple projects across the day, balancing workload and priorities and provide key updates to the manager when required. (Accountability/Impact criteria)
  • Able to problem solve and operate with general autonomy on assigned design tasks as scheduled, with a high attention to detail and accuracy, while able to recognise when to escalate issues and recommend resolutions to the supervising manager. (Complexity/Problem solving criteria)
  • Apply a good level of professional experience and judgement, awareness of branding, trends, and aesthetics. Continues to grow skills though education, training, and new experiences. Experiments with new approaches and shares findings with team where appropriate. (Technical/Functional criteria)
  • Able to appreciate general business and marketing factors within the design process, including scheduling and resource management, strategic objectives and constraints, including budgets, time, resource, and production costs. Able to assist the design manager in sourcing production quotes and estimates. (Technical/Functional criteria)
  • Shows a good level of organization. Consistent in applying best practice and processes, such as uploading project files and adhering to SOP document for the design team such as file naming, image linking and storing of artwork. (Accountability/Impact criteria)
  • Participate in client/internal stakeholder meetings and directly interact with project managers to gather information and discuss project requirements. (Communication/People skills criteria)
  • Support team members in addressing routine issues within the assigned processes. (People development criteria)

Qualifications

  • Ability to take prompt action and/or accept additional responsibilities to accomplish objectives (Initiative)
  • Ability to identify and resolve moderately complex issues by applying best practices and technical expertise and may recommend solutions for unique scenarios. (Problem Solving)

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a three-year course, in the field of Creative Visual Communication courses or significant experience in industry.
  • Between 2-5 years of experience in graphic design role, preferably within a corporate environment, within a Graphic Design function or any other relevant roles and functions
  • A portfolio that demonstrates a solid background in print and digital design
  • Intermediate proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop
  • Experience using After Effects and Premiere or other similar tools and platforms is an advantage.
  • Good proficiency in MS desktop publishing programs
