What you’ll do & Who you are
Adevinta operates two services on the Italian market: subito.it: a horizontal platform connecting buyers and sellers and automobile.it: a car trading platform.
Adevinta Italy is looking for a Staff backend engineer with experience as a Technical Lead who can help us design and develop our APIs and work in an environment with hundreds of microservices.
In subito.it and automobile.it, you will collaborate with product owners, UX designers, and software engineers to deliver game-changing products. We have an intense “you built it, you run it” approach, so you will automatically deploy and monitor your services to identify issues before our customers do. We move fast with a no-blame approach. Deploy with courage, and if you break it, then fix it!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Work together with the Engineering Manager in being a partner for the Product Owner in the assessment of requirements regarding feasibility and effort
Work together with the Engineering Manager to translate business requirements into tech requirements
Technical leadership in the development team (this role does not include people leadership)
Own the entire development cycle together with the cross-functional team, from requirements specification over implementation, test automation, and quality assurance to deployment and monitoring
Contribute to the team's work with clean, maintainable and testable code and participate in lead design and code reviews
Actively contribute to and shape business, culture and ways of working
YOUR IDENTIKIT
Core:
Meaningful knowledge in at least two programming languages: Go, Java, Kotlin, and Python. (Go and Java/Kotlin are the preferred ones) and testing practices.
Meaningful experience in implementing and consuming REST API.
Confident with event sourcing and Apache Kafka.
Confident with NoSQL DBs such as MongoDB and Redis as well as RDBMS like MySQL or PostgreSQL
Confident with search engine platforms like ElasticSearch or Solr
Knowledge of common microservice architecture patterns and distributed systems.
Confident in designing the architecture of new services
Strong responsibility on all product sides, not only at an API level.
Pluses:
Experience in profiling and debugging performance issues
Knowledge of Docker and container systems in general
Experience in continuous delivery strategies
Experience in profiling and debugging performance issues
Knowledge of web development patterns: MVC, ActiveRecord, Dependency Injection and Clean architecture.
