Acutronic is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer Intern to join our team in Austin, TX. In this role, you will work closely with our engineering team to assist in the design, testing, and optimization of Electro-Mechanical actuators. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Mechanical Design Engineer Intern

Your Roles/Responsibilities:

  • Perform basic engineering design, development, analysis, experimentation, test and/or product assurance tasks of limited complexity for assigned portions of a project. Ensures tasks meet cost, quality, schedule, and performance requirements
  • Analyze and interpret design specifications, drawings, documentation, models, and/or test results to ensure technical designs comply with applicable engineering standards, military specifications, and product requirements
  • Provide support for multiple projects working closely with the engineering team
  • May independently evaluate, select, and apply standard technical techniques, procedures, and criteria using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications

Your Profile/Qualifications/Skills:

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field, with at least two years completed at an accredited college or university
  • Strong academic performance, with a minimum GPA of 3.0 in engineering courses
  • Solid understanding of engineering concepts and fundamentals
  • Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is preferred
  • Excellent computer skills and proficiency in relevant software applications
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
  • Effective multi-tasking skills with a keen attention to detail

Acutronic’s Aerospace Components Divison manufactures specialty components for use on uncrewed aerial vehicles, land defense applications, and missile systems. These products are used on next-generation aerospace programs and include a range of electric power systems, servo-actuators, micro-turbines, and Hybrid-Electric-Propulsion-Systems. We offer standard products and excel at designing highly customized solutions for demanding mission requirements.
