The Director, Data Platform & Engineering is responsible for leading the development, implementation, and operations of the company's Data Platform and BI Engineering practice.  This data leader will be responsible for guiding the effort to pull multiple data assets into our data store, including establishing a Data Management and Governance protocol. This strategic leader works closely with various departments including Engineering, Product, Architecture and IT to support analytics driven initiatives for Accruent’s CPTO organization.  The ideal candidate is a collaborative, senior technical leader, experienced in maintaining and maturing an enterprise-wide Data Platform and BI Engineering practice. This role reports to the VP of Data Strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage Accruent’s BI Engineering team in support of customer’s BI reporting feature development and enhancements requests. 
  • Guide definition and modernization of Accruent’s Data Platform and dashboard reporting capabilities. This includes tools, standards, pipelines, platforms, operations, and automations.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering teams to identify analytics opportunities and drive design and implementation of engineering requisites to operationalize these opportunities.
  • Empower and sustain company's analytics transformation and expansion efforts with best-in-class analytics ecosystem to enable DaaS, IaaS & AaaS.
  • Work closely with Data Engineering, Data Architecture, and Data Governance teams to ensure Data Platform & Engineering practice adheres to enterprise standards and frameworks.
  • Ensure Data Platform & Engineering practice conforms with company's infrastructure, security, and compliance standards.  Support and operationalize AI/ML governance for equitable and ethical AI and ML use within the organization.
  • Rapidly scale the volume of trusted data sets and pipelines across all sources including our product, workplaces, sites, assets, and documents data, and many more sources of data critical to growth.
  • Build and manage robust product development, engineering, data, and operational practices to ensure continuous improvement in product delivery, platform operations, and data operations.
  • Advise on resource planning, personnel decisions, and team structures to meet current and expected future needs of the institution. Provide inputs to Opex / Capex budgets.
  • Stay abreast of new developments in analytics engineering; recommend and support case for technology enhancements with an eye towards new capabilities and/or capability improvements that deliver a strong value proposition.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in engineering, analytics, computer science or a similar discipline from an accredited institution.
  • 7+ years' experience formal data engineering program leadership, ideally in a transformation environment. 
  • Significant experience in Azure SnowFlake or equivalent technology stack. This includes Feature engineering, MLFlow, AutoML, Notebooks, Cluster and Jobs management.
  • Experience leading complex technical projects from business requirements and system design through production. Technical ability to problem-solve with engineers on architectural trade-offs and technology selection.
  • Hands-on experience designing, building, and orchestrating data pipelines, data transformation and storage solutions in a high-volume production environment.
  • Excellent leadership skills, including strategic thinking, analytical reasoning, alignment building, initiative, collaboration, communication, and empathy.
  • Demonstrated experience in synthesizing and translating market needs into product requirements; ability to manifest the product vision/direction via compelling positioning, roadmaps, and technical delivery
  • Deep knowledge and proven use of agile software development practices including Scrum/Agile methodology and continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) for delivering software applications and platforms
  • Hands-on expertise managing large deployments and data volumes on modern analytical data platforms such as Snowflake and transformation platforms such as DBT
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling stories for diverse audiences to communicate strategy, product roadmap, operational delivery, and industry thought leadership
  • Ability to influence and deliver results in global, matrixed environments comprised of multiple internal and external stakeholders.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and other business tools such as Microsoft Teams.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Master's degree in engineering, analytics, computer science or a similar discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum of 3 years in Product / Analytics Platform management and technical leadership.
  • Experience hiring, leading, and developing high-functioning analytics engineering teams, monitoring and managing team performance, and supporting individual career growth through mentorship, coaching, and feedback.

  • This is a full-time, exempt opportunity.

The salary range for this position is $137,600 - $255,600. This position is also eligible for a bonus as part of the compensation package.

Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including, but not limited to: job-related knowledge; skills; experience; and other eligibility factors such as geographic location. The Total Rewards package includes competitive base pay and an opportunity to enroll in a variety of benefit programs, generally including health insurance, flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and several programs that provide for both paid and unpaid time away from work.
