The work
As an Edge Device SME, you will support CISA clients in developing and refining technical guidance for securing edge devices in response to evolving PRC‑related threats. You will translate strategic objectives into actionable technical steps aligned with BOD 26‑02 and work directly with industry stakeholders to gather insights, validate feedback, and separate technical expertise from vendor sales messaging.

This role requires hands‑on experience with edge device deployment, maintenance, and incident response, along with a strong background in endpoint detection. Familiarity with PRC‑related threat intelligence and the ability to convert it into practical mitigations is highly valuable. Your ability to connect high‑level strategy with real technical execution will be essential as you help inform and shape CISA’s edge device security guidance.

Key responsibilities:
• Advise and support CISA clients in developing, reviewing, and analyzing technical guidance related to edge device security
• Interface directly with industry vendors to capture insights, evaluate technical claims, and separate engineering perspective from sales posture
• Translate CISA strategic objectives into actionable technical steps and support efforts related to BOD 26‑02
• Provide hands‑on expertise in the implementation, maintenance, and incident response of edge devices
• Apply endpoint detection knowledge to support clients’ security and monitoring objectives
• Collaborate with government and industry stakeholders to ensure technical solutions align with mission, business needs, and strategic priorities
• Communicate complex technical concepts clearly to both technical and non‑technical audiences
• Gather, analyze, and synthesize industry feedback to inform CISA’s guidance, direction, and policy development
• Leverage familiarity with PRC‑related threat intelligence to help develop practical mitigation recommendations

Here’s what you need:
• 7+ years of experience in cybersecurity, network security, endpoint security, or related technical domains, including hands‑on work with edge devices
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience with edge device implementation, configuration, maintenance, and incident response
• Strong understanding of endpoint detection technologies and security telemetry
• Ability to translate strategic guidance and threat intelligence into actionable technical plans
• Experience interfacing with industry vendors or participating in technical workshops

Nice to have:
• Experience supporting or developing security policies, standards, or best practices
• Background in PRC‑related cyber threat intelligence or foreign cyber threat analysis
• Experience working with federal cybersecurity teams or supporting government cybersecurity programs
• Previous involvement in the development of BOD, directive, or compliance‑driven technical guidance
• Certifications in cybersecurity, incident response, or endpoint security (e.g., GCIH, GCED, Security+, CySA+)

Eligibility requirements:
• Must be a US Citizen
