Position Summary

As a Senior Backend Software Engineer, you will be responsible for completing the design, development, and programming tasks for assigned software modules according to the project timeline. This includes independently conducting unit and functional testing, identifying and resolving software defects, and ensuring overall quality. You will also compile project documentation and maintain quality records. Additionally, you'll handle bug fixes, perform daily maintenance, and manage upgrades for the developed modules. Troubleshooting technical issues and collaborating with team members to complete related tasks will also be key aspects of your role.

 

Essential Functions/Responsibilities

The Senior Backend Software Engineer is accountable for the following functions and responsibilities:

  • Contributing to architectural decision-making for the Backend, ensuring its scalability and alignment with the company's technical vision and strategy
  • Review and provide feedback on your coworker’s changes
  • Strong experience in designing and developing software systems to accomplish a given goal while also writing code comments, change descriptions, and documentation so others can maintain their work.
  • Independently conduct unit and functional testing, identify software defects, ensure quality, and be responsible for compiling project documentation and quality records.
  • Proficiency in investigating complicated issues to root causes and designing better solutions, as well as learning from operational incidents and making long-term mitigations.
  • The ability to train and mentor less experienced engineers and set the direction for other engineers.
  • Handle bug fixes, daily maintenance, and upgrades for the developed modules.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues encountered during development and collaborate with other team members to complete related tasks.
  • Model standards for engineering excellence
  • Break ground on new projects
  • Discover requirements by working with PMs and stakeholders
  • Perform interviews for Software Engineer candidates
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications/Experience Required

  • Bachelors or relevant work experience or certification/courses. 
  • At least 5 years of experience in professional software engineering and distributed systems, experience with technologies like AWS, GoLang, Java, and databases like MongoDB and PostgreSQL
  • Advanced experience in software design applications with Golang or Java
  • Advanced experience in system design with microservices
  • Advanced experience in data design
  • Experience in performance testing and analysis
  • Experience in asynchronous messaging (e.g., Kafka, SQS)
  • Basic experience in CI/CD (Jenkins, GitLabs)
  • Experience of Cloud Native Technologies
  • Experience with multiple software product life cycles
  • Expertise in applying algorithms, data structures, and network protocols
  • Basic experience in mentoring, managing, and setting the direction for other engineers.
  • Professional experience with AAA game studios or a mature software product company is preferred.
  • Professional experience in E-commerce or In-App Purchase (Mobile Apple Store, Google Play/Host Platform, Steam, PlayStation) is preferred
  • Professional experience creating web products is preferred
  • Experience working in a multinational technology startup is a big plus
  • Eagerness to learn new languages and technologies.
  • Proficiency in written and verbal English language to succeed in a remote work environment.
  • Flexibility to adjust to work routines/schedules, as required, to meet the needs of the company and the expectations of customers.
