The Opportunity
This position works out of our Ottawa, Ontario location in the Point of Care, Diagnostics division. We’re empowering smarter medical and economic decision making to help transform the way people manage their health at all stages of life.
Our Point of Care diagnostic portfolio spans key health and therapeutic areas, including infectious disease, cardiometabolic, information technology and toxicology. As an Associate Engineer in the Finished Goods and Test Engineering team you will have the chance to play a key role in product and component lot releases ensuring product quality and performance while driving continuous improvement across multidisciplinary engineering and manufacturing teams.
What You’ll Do
Assemble and prepare monthly and quarterly metric data review of all APOC quality systems.
Drive lot releases through data review and investigation.
Investigate manufacturing, product, and quality issues to support product performance and continuity of supply.
Perform technical investigations, root cause analysis, and CAPA activities to resolve non-conformances, customer complaints, and manufacturing challenges.
Support implementation of product, process, and documentation changes in compliance with quality system requirements.
Prepare and maintain technical reports, protocols, work instructions, manufacturing records and quality documentation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, R&D, and Engineering.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on quality, efficiency, yield, and cost reduction.
Execute assigned projects, manage priorities and timelines, and communicate technical findings and recommendations.
Apply Quality System, GMP, and regulatory requirements while promoting a safe and healthy workplace.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Science, or a related STEM discipline.
Zero to three years of experience in a manufacturing, engineering, quality, or technical environment; experience in a regulated manufacturing environment is an asset.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data analysis skills; experience with statistical methods is an asset.
Familiarity with statistical software and quality tools (e.g., Minitab, JMP, SPC) is considered an asset.
Ability to analyze data, draw conclusions, and document results effectively.
Knowledge of GMP, ISO, FDA regulatory requirements, CAPA systems, risk management/FMEA methodologies, and Lean Six Sigma principles is an asset.
Excellent communication, technical writing, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams.
Strong organizational, planning, and prioritization skills in a fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
Commitment to maintaining a safe, healthy, and environmentally responsible workplace.
The annual base salary for this position ranges from $59,250.00 to $86,900.00 CAD. The salary range provided applies to Canada only and does not apply to any other locations outside of Canada.
