We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer with a background in DevOps practices to join our growing technology team. This is an exciting opportunity to become a member of the 8x8 engineering team that is involved in the entire life cycle of development.

Get the chance to work in a microservices architecture, add new features, solve day-to-day problems and contribute to system wide technical improvements. All this in an agile run project that is continuously deployed in Kubernetes clusters.

Responsibilities
Contribute in all phases of the development lifecycle
Write well designed, testable, efficient code
Design, develop and deploy infrastructure automation solutions for 8x8 environments
Automate and optimize cloud infrastructure
Stay current with the latest trends and best practices in public cloud
Provide best practices, recommendations, and guidance for Public Cloud usage (e.g. AWS)
Operational point of contact for development, operations and Quality Engineering
Work on automation and implemented continuous integration processes with Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins and Git
Evaluate current development procedures, recommend and implement tools and practices to increase efficiency and repeatability
Operational review of existing architecture with the goal of automating and improving the existing and future environments
Work closely with other teams and understand the functionality of applications and assist with various automation and configuration tasks
Contribute and maintain documentation ensuring knowledge is shared within the team

Qualifications

B.S. degree in Computer Science or relevant field experience
5+ years of experience Software Engineering

Good understanding of object-oriented programming principles
Strong design and architectural skills

Passionate about delivering high-quality software
Proven skills and Hands-on programming experience in Java, preferably leveraging Spring Framework is a plus

Proven skills and Hands-on programming experience in PHP is an advantage
Excellent development experience with Java REST web services is an advantage

Scripting skills including bash, python, Go, ruby, etc.
Experience implementing CI/CD strategies
Container deployments
Experience using tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Argo CD
Experience with system management automation tools like Chef, Ansible, Terraform
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a geographically dispersed team
