The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

The person hired for the position of Senior Product Development Engineer will be responsible for characterization and developing new material sets or coatings that can be inkjet printable as part of on-going development programs.

As a Senior Product Development Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

• Designing and developing new functionalized surfaces and/or coatings polymeric materials to enhance inkjet ink performance.   

• Characterize and optimize interaction with inkjet ink chemistries.

• Broaden understanding or incorporate new analytical/characterization tools.

• Performing literature and patent searches, scout for new materials and actively identify intellectual property and patentable inventions.

• Working in a global, team environment.

• Other duties as assigned.

Your Skills and Expertise 
To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:

• Possess or in the final year of Ph.D. in a science or engineering discipline (verified prior to start) from an accredited university

• Current cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on 4.0 scale

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Ph.D. in Polymer Science, Material Science, or Polymer Chemistry with one or more of the following:

  • Synthesis and/or characterization of polymers

  • Inkjet ink characterization

  • Polymer surfaces and interfaces

• Demonstrated scientific excellence as evidenced by publications and presentations

• Hands on, self-starter orientation

• Broad interests and willingness to explore new areas

• Demonstrated leadership skills in a private, public, government or military environment

• Written and oral communication skills

Work location:

• Work Your Way Eligible (Employee choice to work on site or hybrid)

Travel: May include up to 5% domestic/international

Relocation Assistance: May be authorized.

Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status).

Applicable to US Applicants Only:The expected compensation range for this position is $119,076 - $145,537, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay, if eligible. This range represents a good faith estimate for this position.
