The Impact You’ll Make in this Role

As a(n) Environmental Compliance Engineer / Product Safety Engineer you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world.

Here, you will make an impact by:

• Leading the daily compliance task of approving new 3M products intended for the market by ensuring documentation relating to local requirements are fulfilled.
• Managing Packaging Waste and Electronic waste submissions.
• Verifying technical documentation to ensure compliance and accuracy for electronic and electrical products
• Working closely with internal and external customers and within the EMEA Product Stewardship team to manage enquiries on regulatory aspects of 3M products. Example, REACH, SVHC information, RoHS, Conflict Minerals, compositional data, etc.
• Managing raw material compliance for manufacturing sites in Poland, tracking new raw materials and liaising with external suppliers for compositional information.
• Supporting compliance improvement activities through development of new processes and systems.
• Monitoring relevant emerging regulatory requirements and trends

Your Skills and Expertise 

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who meet following minimum requirements:

• Education: Bachelor’s/Master’s degree, technical (e.g. Electrical/ Chemical/ Environmental Engineering, Material/ Environmental Science, etc.)
• Knowledge on product safety and chemical regulations (REACH, CLP, EPR, CE marking etc.) with experience in a similar role
• Knowledge on local waste reporting obligation (WEEE/ batteries/ packaging) under Extended Producer Responsibility
• Proficiency in English (very good in writing and speaking)

Additional knowledge and/or qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

• Enjoys working with multiple IT systems, including SAP, excel
• Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and proficiency in generating comprehensive reports to effectively manage reporting obligations of environmental waste capable of dealing with short deadlines
• Demonstrated communication skills; must be able to summarize and articulate technical information to diverse audiences both verbally and in writing
• Self-driven with a “can do” attitude and growth mindset
• Experience working with different cultures and cross functional teams
• Problem solving skills with the ability to bring projects to a conclusion
