1X's mission is to create an abundant supply of physical labor through safe, intelligent androids that work alongside humans. Since 2014, we’ve designed our products with large-scale manufacturing in mind, so we can produce androids at a high enough volume to meet the world’s labor demand. 

Our wheeled Android EVE, is engineered to work with you, from guarding to logistics, and our bipedal model, NEO, is designed to become a household android with broad deployment in various applications. Our products will understand both natural language and physical space, so they can complete useful tasks in any environment.

We’ve established our dual HQ in San Francisco and Norway. Our positions require in-person presence to ensure effective execution and seamless collaboration in our hardware-focused environment. We value passion for our work and encourage candidates who share our dedication to join our team.

Responsibilities

• Drive the full android software test and release process from features to a tested and validated image available to end customers
• Set up, monitor, and manage CI/CD pipelines and runners to ensure seamless code integration and deployment.
• Develop hardware in the loop testing procedures and tools to make development process more effective.
• Help with the ongoing maintenance, updates, and support for the operating system used within our hardware products.
• Take on varied roles or tasks as needed, demonstrating a can-do attitude, especially in high-demand situations.

Must-Haves:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Experience with product development in the context of release mechanisms, continuous integration, and continuous deployment
• Proficiency in multiple programming languages: C/C++/Python/Java/Rust
• Experience with software deployed in hardware products (e.g., robots, drones, automotive)

Nice-To-Haves:

• Experience with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform
• Experience working with Bitbake and Yocto and supporting developer workflows
• Experience with setting up CI pipelines and runners, infrastructure as code (Terraform, Ansible)
• Familiarity with edge computing and its applications in IoT or other hardware products
• Experience with working with legged robots

Our new headquarter in Moss, Norway, is a short train ride from Oslo. The facility is designed to be state-of-the-art, with a variety of 3D printers, an electronics lab, and controls test studio. 1XHQ offers food, showers, and outdoor activities.
