About the role
Software is at the core of our Chromium, Visium, and Xenium platforms, enabling researchers to progress science forward and advance biology to improve human health. Our embedded software powers our instruments, cloud software facilitates experimental design, and our bioinformatics pipelines and visualization software accelerate data analysis to help researchers drive to their experimental conclusions.
We are seeking a Senior Product Manager, Software for a novel new product in our R&D pipeline. In this role, you will lead product definition, working closely with an embedded software team and closely collaborating with hardware engineering, systems engineering, and assay development. You’ll conduct research to deeply understand customer workflows and needs, define the product requirements, guide the prioritization of development based on business needs, plan out the roadmap and releases, and work with a highly multidisciplinary team to build the product.

What you will be doing
- Develop customer, product, R&D, and support requirements.
- Conduct customer and user research, assess the business and competitive landscape, and analyze product telemetry to inform prioritization and design decisions.
- Lead collaboration with multidisciplinary teams (i.e. hardware, assay development, product integration, manufacturing, computational biology, software engineering, design, customer support) to design and build software solutions which address customer needs.
- Bring clarity to complexity by communicating problems and solutions to all levels and roles across the company.
- Manage delivery timelines and software release plans throughout the product lifecycle.
- Ensure we deliver impactful, well-designed products that customers love.
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Biology, or related field.
- 5 years of software product management experience (or equivalent).
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Proven track record of shipping software products.
- Robust project management skills with a proven ability to handle competing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Demonstrated ability to make effective decisions under pressure
- Design sense and ability to understand and empathize with user mindsets.
- Proficiency in data analysis and synthesis, including SQL skills.
- Experience in embedded software, hardware, or cloud product development.
- Experience with NGS, imaging or fluidics systems.
- Experience in the scientific instrumentation industry.
- Experience in the pharmaceutical, medical, or scientific research fields.

Below is the base pay range for this full time position. The actual base pay will depend on several factors unique to each candidate, including one’s skills, qualifications, and experience. At 10x, base pay is also just one component of the Company’s total compensation package. This role is also eligible for 10x’s equity grants, its comprehensive health and retirement benefit programs, and its annual bonus program or sales incentive program.
