Manager, Software Engineering

The Manager, Software Engineering will facilitate the continued development of our Engineers and continue to drive a culture of learning with commonly understood and practiced engineering methods. This role will ensure effective communication within and across project teams and identify and remove barriers to efficient product development; evaluate and implement development best practices which support product quality, scalability and maintainability and provide key input into planning activities related to the direction of Software Engineering, including strategic, operational, and product planning.

What You’ll Do

• Evaluate the feasibility of proposed work with product owners, architects, and designers. Discuss and influence product architecture to increase developer agility while retaining architectural sanctity.
• Work with stakeholders and product owners to ensure development of high-quality software that complies with all architecture and engineering standards; and delivers incremental value to business.
• Provide technical expertise while planning to help clarify requirements, plan out potential implementations, and measure success.
• Manage software development work to create new products and maintain existing applications to create value for users and customers.
• Influence, guide and motivate software engineers to meet product development plans, cost, quality and schedule requirements.
• Participate in design, implementation, and execution across a variety of features.
• Remove tactical impediments and drive resolution of issues while ensuring continued focus on incremental business value – within teams and across teams.
• Support preparation of Engineering Roadmap. Present practical input for strategic technology decisions.
• Supervise and assign work to software engineers while continually providing feedback on performance.
• Performs other duties as required/assigned by manager. 

What You Bring

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Sciences and Technology or a closely related discipline desired 
• 4+ years of technical experience designing and developing technical solutions that are robust, scalable, and highly performant in a commercial software environment 
• Leadership experience preferred 
• Experience building scalable, performant and visually appealing web applications.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum Methodologies preferred
• Knowledge of optimizing a site for Search Engine Optimization purposes desired
• Experience working with remote teams and teams across time zones desired.

The US base salary range for this position is $156,000k - $195,000k + bonus & equity + benefits
