Data Analyst

About the role:

As a Data Analyst, you'll be working either embedded in one of our multidisciplinary product squads or within our core data team.  

Product squad work will focus on measuring value and discovering insights for product development. This is fast paced work and would suit those who enjoy the hustle and want to play a leading role in setting our product development direction.   

Core data team work focuses on enabling new data capabilities and improving our cross-cutting data assets, ensuring they are serving our product development squads effectively, are reliable, stable, and efficient. This work has a higher emphasis on quality (as it serves many teams) and proper data engineering practice.

Ideally, we would like someone who is interested in developing the skills for both roles (though deployments will not be concurrent). Within our team, preferences are always considered and rotation to gain a variety of experiences is encouraged.  

Day-to-day responsibilities will include:

• Help people make better decisions by answering questions with data.  
• Collaborate with engineers and data scientists within product development squads to design and enhance data pipelines from new and exciting data sources.  
• Build, maintain, and take ownership of database tables and dashboards (Looker) to provide actionable insights.  
• Support business users across the company by enabling self-serve analytics through BI tools like Looker.  
• Work closely with other members of the extended data team to improve our technical assets and ways of working.  
• Help manage technical debt.  
• Design and implement well-optimised data models in our data warehouse using DBT.  

What we’re looking for:

• Strong knowledge of SQL and at least 2+ years of hands-on experience with Redshift. 
• Experience working with Analytical Stack technologies including Fivetran, Redshift (or equivalent analytic database), DBT, Looker, Python, GIT & GitHub, and Airflow. 
• Experienced using collaborative version control systems (such as GIT & GitHub) to manage the codebase and streamline development processes.  
• Comfortable with general Data Warehousing concepts. 
• Experience building dashboards, preferably with Looker. 
• Proven track record of building robust and reliable data sets with a high level of control. 
• Experience applying various analytics techniques to extract actionable insights. 
• Understanding of advanced analytical methodologies, including statistical analysis and visualisation tools.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in a STEM subject.
• Experience and alternative qualifications considered in lieu of a STEM degree.
