To ensure we are helping our customers to manage their cash flow responsibly when they make credit payments, we set dynamic borrowing limits using best-in-market data from leading credit reference agencies, open banking technology and behavioural data analysis. Together these generate a real-time, comprehensive, 360-degree view of a customer’s affordability profile, allowing us to set personalised borrowing limits accordingly. To further bolster our customer safeguards, we are fully regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, having obtained a consumer credit license prior to our launch.
Since launching as an FCA regulated business in the UK in September 2020 and in the US in May 2022, Zilch has amassed over 3 million customers in 24 months and turned gross profitable – years faster than other well-known fintechs. In that time, we have provided our customers with over £80 million in aggregate rewards and savings on fees and interest. Zilch is searching for talented Java Software Engineers to join our dynamic and fast-paced team. We are looking to speak with coding enthusiasts who live and breathe software, and who obsess about quality. Day-to-day responsibilities include:
- Analysing software for new features, designs, and releases as well as exploratory testing to ensure the company’s platform maintain high standards as it grows.
- Being responsible for app and software programs testing and advising on testing improvements.
- Working in an agile environment on user stories that deliver significant impact for our customers.
- Building integrations and APIs that are rock-solid, secure,
well-tested, and highly performant. - Continually improving software code, systems, practices,
and knowledge. - Working with databases and data to ensure the Company
store and process information securely and effectively. - Continuously discovering, evaluating, and implementing
new, custom user interfaces for efficiency, development
and performance. - Liaising with users to prioritise inbound bug reports and reproduce reported issues.
- Working closely with the team in relation to identifying effective testing strategies and providing continuous support to junior staff.
Key requirements:
- A Bachelor and/or Masters degree
- 4+ years’ experience in Java Software Development
- 4+ years’ using Spring Boot
- 4+ years’ experience with in-memory databases such as Redis or Memcached
- 4+ years’ integrating with external services
- Technically minded with an ability to grasp technical concepts quickly.
- Highly detail-oriented and committed to quality.
- A positive, collaborative attitude and approach to testing.
Bonus skills:
- Exposure to AWS or other cloud providers
- Exposure to NoSQL type databases (e.g., MongoDB)
- Exposure to React or Angular
- Exposure to TypeScript
- DevOps mindset
- Experience working on B2C product
