Data Visualization Engineer - Business Intelligence

Location: San Francisco

Salary Range: $142,000 - $200,000

We leverage the power of various data visualization tools to transform complex data sets into actionable insights, enabling our internal business partners to create dashboards that drive important business decisions.

Who You Are: 

Having the right metrics and reporting is key to driving decisions here at X. We are looking for a key individual who is passionate about working with data who has a strong background in data visualization tools, and obsessed with analytics. You are a self-sufficient, proactive, and strong communicator who can effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and deliver exceptional results.

What You’ll Do:

In this role, you will: 

● Serve as the primary administrator for data visualization tools used at X, including version upgrades, server maintenance, and user support.

● Provide technical support to developers and end users, ensuring seamless access to dashboarding/reporting solutions and key data sources.

● Manage partner requests through Jira, addressing issues related to dashboard access, data source problems, and bug resolution.

● Gather requirements and develop critical dashboards for key business stakeholders across all departments.

● Communicate proactively with stakeholders regarding system updates, downtime, and issue resolutions.

● Identify and integrate relevant data sources from APIs and applications to enhance the organization's data ecosystem.

● Partner with senior data engineers to develop and maintain data pipelines to ensure seamless and efficient data flow from external sources into the analytics environment.

Basic qualifications:

● 5+ years of experience in data visualization, system administration and dashboard development.

● Expertise in SQL and other data querying languages.

● Strong understanding of server architecture and administration.

● Proven track record of delivering high-quality data visualization solutions.

● Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. 

● Self-sufficiency and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

● Ability to move fast and get things done, and help the broader team do so (to enable rapid iteration on the product).

● Experience working with Jira or similar issue tracking tools.

● Experience working in Slack or similar communication tools.

Preferred Qualifications: 

● Data visualization tool and/or business intelligence certifications.

● Experience with data warehouse design and ETL processes.

● Knowledge of agile project management methodologies.
