TEAM
The AD/ADAS group is developing a scalable, data-driven approach to autonomous and assisted driving. Our advanced vehicle architectures consist of a sophisticated network of sensors and embedded high-performance computers. The Vehicle Software Platform team focuses on developing robust, sophisticated software platforms and tooling that underpin the functionality of modern vehicles. This includes base operating system support, sensor integration, hardware abstraction layers, and the integration or development of middleware components such as for scheduling and logging of heterogeneous real-time systems and inter-ECU communication.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
For this position, we are looking for a candidate with a strong software engineering background, a generalist attitude, and the ability to work hands-on in a fast-paced, collaborative, and intercultural environment.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, develop, improve, and maintain safe and reusable software components, frameworks, and tools written in Modern C++ and Python.
  • Contribute to the long-term architecture of Woven by Toyota's middleware and Vehicle OS.
  • Be excited about working hands-on in a fast-paced environment on software closely connected to operating systems, compute hardware, sensors, and vehicles.
  • Be ready to dive-in and learn across the technology stack and leverage experience to develop solutions with sound design principles, extensibility, and safety in mind.
  • Set the roadmap by working with other middleware, ADAS, and autonomy software teams, and influence strategic decisions within and outside the team.
  • Be a self-driven leader, support best software practices, and mentor junior engineers.

Experience

  • 5+ years of professional software development experience.
  • In-depth knowledge of writing reusable code in C and Modern C++11 as well as working knowledge of Bash and Python and related build tooling.
  • In-depth experience with POSIX operating systems (Linux, QNX, etc.) as well as automotive or embedded systems and related interfaces (Ethernet, CAN, etc.)
  • Experience with automotive or robotics middleware and SDKs such as ROS, and Apex.OS, AutoSAR AP, or Android.
  • Generalist attitude with proven ability to dive deep fast and willingness to learn continuously.
  • Ability to operate effectively and autonomously across multiple teams, and navigate technical ambiguity with only high-level direction.
  • Ability to evaluate approaches and make correct tradeoffs.
  • (Nice to Have) Experience with ISO-26262, Autosar CP/AP, or other safety standards.
  • (Nice to Have) Experience with automotive software, ideally for ADAS.
  • (Nice to Have) Insight into real-time, distributed, and parallel computing.
  • (Nice to Have) Understand low-level hardware and deeply embedded software.
  • (Nice to Have) Experience developing safety critical and/or hard real-time applications (automotive, aerospace, robotics, etc.).
$140,000- $230,000 a year
Your base salary is one part of your total compensation. We offer a base salary, short term and long term incentives, and a comprehensive benefits package. The California pay scale for this full time position is $140,000- $230,000. The total compensation offered to an employee will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and level.
