About the Team
The Performance, Resilience and Scalability Engineering team is looking for the best candidates to help drive performance analysis, optimization and scalability of Workday's leading enterprise cloud HCM, and Analytics. The position within the Performance, Resiliency and Scalability group, is ideally suited to candidates from a performance engineering or development background with a deep focus on performance and resiliency engineering. The team has a broad charter that spans from debugging and recreating specific customer issues, to using the latest Big Data techniques in order to extract actionable data and model future capacity and scalability needs.About the Role
Workday is looking for an outstanding Performance Engineer to join our Tools Performance Engineering team.
Performance Engineers are highly skilled engineers who debug, measure, analyze, and improve our Workday software. They are generalists with deep technical understanding of software, hardware, networking, distributed systems, cloud computing and technologies and the Internet. They enjoy taking a holistic view of sophisticated systems. Application Performance is achieved by working closely with all our engineering teams throughout the release cycle. Our ultimate goal is application performance that yields an excellent end user experience and scales to meet Software as a Service Infrastructure needs.
About You
Basic Qualifications:
2+ Years of experience in software engineering
Ability to distill volumes of data, analyze performance results, and diagnose performance problems.
Ability to clearly characterize system performance to team members.
Performance test planning, setup, and execution
Test scripting and test data management
Application and architecture code profiling
Infrastructure and application performance tuning
Collaborative teammate
Bachelors Degree (or higher). (Computer Science or Software Engineering preferable)
Other Qualifications:
Unix or Linux experience
OO design and Java development experience.
SQL and mySQL skills or equivalent experience
Experience with Performance, Load, Stress, and Scalability Testing
Web Application Development, Application Servers Tomcat, Web Services development experience (SOAP or REST)

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary based on work location. As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants. Each candidate’s compensation offer will be based on multiple factors including, but not limited to, geography, experience, skills, job duties, and business need, among other things.
