The UI Platform organization is responsible for the UI Technology Platform that powers the full suite of Workday products. This platform is central to our user experience and serves some of the world’s largest companies running their businesses on Workday. Our components are rendered more than 20 billion times per month!

We focus on solving problems to help make the Workday experience effortless & intuitive for all.

About the Role

We are looking for a talented Principal Engineer to join our dynamic and ambitious group, and contribute to the continued evolution of our UI Technology Platform.

 As a Principal Engineer you will:

• Collaborate with leadership to prioritize and set direction of overall development efforts. Gather all requirements to formulate appropriate architecture required to provide system functionality ensuring high performance and strong user experience.

• Partner with stakeholders across the business to identify platform-centric solutions to drive value for Workday & our customers

• Collaborate with peers on technical design, work estimation and implementation of new features

• Write and maintain robust, efficient and maintainable code using modern UI frameworks and tools, including Typescript & React

• Contribute ideas for continually improving the team's productivity, job enjoyment, and code quality

• Research new technology and development tools to remain abreast of current and emerging technology

• Be an evangelist of our technologies and products. Communicate across Workday globally to showcase new features and functionality

• Lead by example, actively mentor developers to develop their technical expertise & leadership skills

About You

We are looking for a proactive and motivated Engineer with incredible development skills. This is the place for you if you are passionate about user experiences & love solving platform-related problems.

Basic Qualifications

• 10+ years experience with software development in enterprise software including expert-level skills in one or more of the following: Java, JavaScript

• You have exceptional software architecture skills including, but not limited to, modularization, generalization and component based architecture

• You have a proven track record of taking a leadership role in projects that span multiple teams, deliver on-time while working in a fast paced agile environment

• Knowledge of security/access control, scalability, high availability, concurrency, deployment, production support and other SaaS enterprise software concerns

• You have the ability to balance priorities and make the right tradeoffs in feature content and timely delivery of features, while ensuring customer success and technology leadership for the company

• Excellent verbal and written communication

Bonus Qualifications

• Knowledge of Workday Architecture

• Experience with high volume repeating data structures such as Tables

• Experience in the Financials industry
