ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY

The team you will represent is pivotal to Wind River Debian Linux product’s success. It is a critical part of the Wind River Debian Linux product line, to help with the build infrastructure, enable and support our customers installation process of Debin Linux Distribution. 

Your contribution in this role will directly impact the success of customers who use Wind River Debian Operating System on various hardware architecture platforms.

The focus of this role is to help develop and maintain the build system infrastructure and Debian Distribution Installer to our customer base using Intel x86_64, ARM, and other platforms.  Also provide on-going support, fixing defects and addressing security vulnerabilities.  You will also be able to interact with the open-source community by submitting and reviewing changes and interacting with partner engineers.

Interface & Collaboration

Report directly to Local Engineering Manager

You will be an integral part of the Wind River Debian Linux Operating System Team in India. You will collaborate with Architects, Technical Leads, as well as QA engineers, and other WRLinux OS group team members.

Responsibilities

• Implement and port key Intel x86_64 and ARM platform features to Wind River Debian Linux to support various hardware boards.

• Support and resolve customers reported defects under SLA (Service Level Agreement)
• Fix defects reported by QA, and internal users
• Develop functional testcases and analyze performance benchmark results

• Backport security fixes to resolve issues and monitor incoming reports.
• Work with community to upstream developed content and fixes back to the community

• Strong troubleshooting ability.
• A self-motivated person with high responsibility.

• A good understanding of Linux is required

• Experience in developing and implementing features to meet industrial standards in order to pass conformance testing will be a plus.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Computer Science or related majors.
• At least 3-4+ years Linux development working experience, including application, build infrastructure and Linux Installer development work
• Developing experience and familiarity with language: Assembly, C, C++, python, Rust, go and Shell programming.
• Experience with Debian Linux build system, installer such as Anaconda, CoreOS, PXE, uBoot, UEFI boot methods, as well as software upgrade, downgrade installation process on Debian system Experience with git is required
• Experience with container technology, including docker, OCI, Kubernetes, Helm ...etc.
• Have knowledge and experience on Debian Linux distributions (RHEL, Ubuntu, CentOS, OpenSuse, Yocto etc)
• Skilled in software development, build tools such as git, apt tools
• Skilled in various debugging tools under Linux, for example: gdb, ftrace, crash, printk.
• High level understanding of processor architectures: x86 and/or ARM.
• Good understanding of Agile and DevOps concepts.
