Whisk (acquired by Samsung in 2019) is building the Samsung Food Platform that is helping millions of users worldwide collect inspiring recipes and save time planning, cooking, and shopping across a variety of surfaces including mobile apps, web, voice, Samsung FamilyHub fridges, and other devices and surfaces.

We’re a globally distributed team of 100+ people based in the US, UK, Georgia, Serbia, Korea, Israel and a few places in between. We’ve been working in a distributed way since 2016 and have pioneered many distributed working practices.

About the role

As a Senior Android Developer, you will be developing and supporting the Whisk Android mobile application. Our core system is a complex entity graph consisting of recipes, products, nutrients, retailer products, etc.

We expect you will be involved in all stages of development from designing solutions to deploying artifacts on production.

Since our team is fully distributed, it is important for us that you can organize yourself and are not afraid to communicate with other team members.

We are ready to share our knowledge and we are ready to learn something new from you. We are an open-minded team and not afraid to try new technologies if they can move us forward.

Required Qualifications:

• Please provide your code examples (for example, add a GitHub link to your CV)
• You have previously worked in a senior role and were making technical decisions
• Proficient with Kotlin and Android SDK
• Good understanding of SOLID principles
• Knowledge of Architecture Patterns e.g. MVC/MVVM/MVP/MVI
• Basic understanding of Kotlin Coroutines
• Demonstrated ability to write modular and well-tested code
• Experience developing, releasing and maintaining production-quality apps
• Scope work and provide estimates with reasonable accuracy
• Ability to self-organize and efficiently work remotely
• Working proficiency in English 

It’s a plus if you’re familiar with libraries:

• Dagger/Hilt, Room, Cicerone

and have experience with:

• GRPC
• Single Activity Application approach

Responsibilities:

• You will work in the Mobile Team of 10 skilled engineers, developing our Android application `Whisk`;
• You will build new features and maintain the current codebase;
• You will raise ideas and suggest improvements for the application;
• You will make sure that systems are built to high-quality standards.

Type of Work:

• Contract-based (Long-term project), full-time (40 hours per week);
• 100% remotely;
