WhatsApp Calling's mission is to build real time communication products to facilitate meaningful conversation in your daily life. The work spans across building compelling new features for 1:1 and group calls, Audio/video streaming, network adaptation, signal processing and ML based optimizations. We are looking for an Engineering Director to lead WhatsApp’s Calling organization, responsible for scaling growth globally and improving the product reliability for billions of calls placed everyday. We are looking for a leader with a strong technical foundation, plus a track record of structuring healthy organizations that encourage effective collaborations across multiple disciplines. You’ll influence product strategy, technical decision making, drive prioritization and execution, while managing outstanding engineers and engineering managers in a fast-paced, impact focused environment. You will be responsible for leading teams to deploy innovative solutions at planet scale and meet Meta’s growing product and business needs. At varying times this will involve creating a vision, establishing strategic roadmaps, and ensuring the highest level of technical execution quality.
Responsibilities
Provide technical, product, and organizational leadership
establish effective strategies and execute against them
Deliver high quality product experience to maximize user value, upholding design simplicity and safeguarding our users' privacy with solutions like end-to-end encryption
Build, manage and support diverse teams of software engineers and engineering managers
Foster an inclusive work culture with strong emphasis on diverse perspectives, where everyone has high psychological safety
Form cross-functional and cross-discipline partnerships across WhatsApp and Meta teams to drive engineering efforts
Minimum Qualification
10+ years of technical industry experience
7+ years of engineering management experience
Demonstrated experience recruiting, building, structuring, leading technical organizations, including performance management
Preferred Qualification
Graduate degree
Experience working with distributed teams
